Added 400W HPS to CLF grow and burned my plant!!! Help!

OK guys...I need some help here...I have already had two successful grows using CFL lights. I recently invested in a growing tent and a 400W MH/HPS setup. I completely VEg'd my current grow with the CFL bulbs and wanted to use the 400W Hps for flowering. I setup the 400W and added my plant under the light. I walked away and came back 10 mins later and the light had fried my plant!!! She was a beauty too! Check the pics...What did I do wrong? How do you convert your plant to get use to the 400W light? Any help would be appreciated. I have a tent and a grow box. I have a plant in the grow box thats just about ready for Budding. I don't want to ruin this one...its dragons breath

make sure your lights not very close , CFL's need to be super close but your HPS needs some room, put your hand between the light and the plant and if it burns you it will burn the plant , that's how you can test to see how far away it needs to be , Also are you useing any Foiler Sprays ?

Yeah going from a fw cfl's to a 400w hps is a big jump to the lil girl especially that close ,
future ref start your light a lil higher and gradually bring it down unitl its over her/them without burning..
And do what CodeWarrior says the hand trick Good Luck...

Yikes that is pretty bad make sure to keep a eye out for male gonads that kind of heat stress can sometimes cause them to go all Marilyn Manson on you. I can usually get a 400w hps to within 6" or less but I have a ton of cooling and circulation. And I agree with CodeWarrior it kinda looks like burns caused by foliar feeding them with the lights on have you been misting them? Try hanging a little thermometer from a piece of string right at canopy level so you can see what the temp is there.
