I thought it was ironic that Fox News picked up this story from the associated press. It was buried in their news pages a few days ago, and now even a search of the site doesn't turn up the article...

Just thought it was interesting. If any of you read the "official transcript" of the video footage which supposedly incriminated this ACORN worker it's clear he did NOT offer them any advice on human trafficking. I actually thought, while reading it, that it seemed more like he was just going along with it so he could turn them in. At one point he even said he was working with prosecutors - and the kids just kept on yapping, anyway!

So the ACORN worker gave them advice on how to smuggle people into the USA and then 3 days later gets a conscience and calls police then? Why not instead just refuse to give advice and call police right then and there? Perhaps he found out it was an undercover sting and then called police to try and excuse himself from the crime?

He didn't give them advice. Read the transcripts. He never offered any advice on how to smuggle people into the US. There were a lot of "yeahs" "uhhuhs" and "okays", to questions posed to him by the dynamic duo, but never once did he offer up advice on how to smuggle people across the border. They were leading him with loaded questions, and he was just going along.

First he contacted his cousin, a detective, to get advice on what to do - then, on the advice of his cousin, he called police. It was 2 days after the incident that police received the call from him - so he really only waited one day.

Don't you think it's entirely possible that he called police because he was concerned about what they were going to do with the girls they said they were bringing over? I mean, there was the other lady who told them she killed her husband and a bunch of other BS because she knew they were fucking with her.

If you were sitting at work, and some kids came in dressed up like Halloween (not even believably posing as pimp and prostitute, but rather a parody of what a pimp and prostitute would look like) would you buy the story? Or would you think you were being "punk'd" somehow?

EDIT: Acorn has filed suit against the pimp and prostitute, and possibly Fox News (I can't verify that...)
 
They had knowledge that teen girls were being sold into slavery and they continued to help these people accomplish their evil plan.

More like ACORN was trying to help them smuggle underage girls so they could be sold by the hour to perverted pedophiles who would have sex with them.

So what 1 person in the organization calls the cops after its too late? Some good that's going to do. As far as a law suit goes, good luck with that one, there is nothing illegal about impersonating a pimp or a hooker, no law against that at all. They aren't perpetrating fraud either, so not sure what ACORN is going to sue them for, im sure it will be thrown out anyway.

As far as people believing they were who they say they were? well ACORN went along with this, they certainly thought they were serious and genuine otherwise they would not have gotten caught. ACORN is over, they can shut down any day now.

He clearly stated he has experience with trafficking and he knows people in Tijuana.

Acorn might get the pimp and prostitute, but no chance against Fox.

I can't believe ACORN is trying to justify their major wrong with a minor wrong (undercover video taping) and a MAJOR right (discovering corruption in the organization).

It's essentially the same thing as the John Adams Project that they are trying to do.

The CIA debunked many terrorists plots and these kids debunked a corrupt organization.

Help them accomplish their evil plan? And calling the police accomplishes that how? They didn't have knowledge of anything of the sort. They had the admission of a couple of kids dressed up for Halloween.

The only thing that's wrong is dressing up like a hooker and trying to coerce someone into giving you tax advice.

If the police did this, it would be entrapment. But a couple of right-wing kids do it, and they're "exposing the truth"? There was NOTHING illegal going on until those two kids walked in. You do realize that, don't you?

Oh, right, I forgot... the WHOLE THING WAS MADE UP.

So, it's okay for these kids to lie and say they're smuggling people.. but it isn't okay for the ACORN guy to lie and say he knows someone who can help?

that girl was amazing. what a load. but still what a pussy that he could not handle his affairs correctly. It is what it is. She would seduce hime and he would give thme all they wanted. They have no reason to lie.

Even if he was going along with it, what point would that serve? None, because he could have called the police right then and there, showing his dedication to uncorrupted values.

The bottom line is anyone with values like that doesn't deserve tax payer money.

Why would the ACORN workers lie? They'd already been fired anyway. do you think they would lie to protect an organization that fired them? I don't.

What did the kids have to gain from this setup is a better question.... Notoriety, money, just to name a few. Both very powerful motivators, if you ask just about anyone.

I think it was more like the same reason the Watergate scandal was uncovered, because it NEEDED to be uncovered. It had nothing to do with money, I really doubt they all of a sudden got a ton o money from some admirer. Its all pure speculation on your part anyway because you cannot believe that anyone would want to do the world some good by exposing some supposed " Do Gooder" neighborhood action business for the liars, cheats, law breakers, and just plain bad people they are. I mean seriously condoning the rape and slavery of teenage girls by pedophiles? c'mon that is indefensible no matter how you slice it.

One other thing, If an undercover police man gets evidence that you want to hire someone to kill your wife, guess who goes to jail? You do, and you don't get to use the defense " I was just kidding " either. ACORN employees were not just playing along and " Kidding".
 
No, I don't believe that some 20 year old kids weren't motivated by factors other than simply doing the world "good". Have you seen these kids speak? they have about as much depth as Kyra Sedgwick has cleavage - in other words, none at all. I find it impossible to imagine they were motivated by anything other than their own hunger for celebrity or money.

Not to mention that they, themselves, broke laws by filming without consent. Just a wiretapping law, maybe, but crime for the pursuit of "justice" is still crime.

I haven't watched all the tapes yet, and rumor has it there are more to be released (though this may change in light of the charges being brought against the 2 kids - if they're smart they'll wait and see if the charges stick before subjecting themselves to further prosecution or at least listen to their attorney when he advises them to do just that)...but I think it will be interesting to see what happens next.

And stop making such a big deal they are telling people how to lower their taxes. there's other institutions that do the same thing. you act like if you fill out your taxes to pay the most amount of money... pleeeaase....

why don't you cry that that big church down the street doesn't pay taxes? they tell people if they don't give 10% of their income PLUS a weekly offering they will go to hell, they scare people into giving their money away. that's waaaaaay more fucked up than acorn in my eyes....

it's just been blown up to gigantor proportions by the media... it's insane....

this has nothing to do with church, church is an option nobody makes them pay, acorn is taking our money, plain and simple.
 
First of all, the whole coercion angle is ridiculous... to compel to an act or choice? YOU TRY AGAIN. They didn't compel anything, they went in and the tax evasion and advice of avoiding police attention was offered without ANY specific question about either. Most of the conversations went something like "We are bringing in 13-15 yr old girls as prostitutes"... response " Well don't tell anyone, don't get them social security numbers, claim 2 of them as dependants, bury your money, don't teach them to read, watch out for the coppers, you talk too much, here's how you run a successful brothel...etc etc etc" Compel to and act or choice? yeah, like I said...you need to try again...laughable argument, nothing new from this poster.

Secondly, the lawsuit is in Maryland. Where I might add, ACORN is operating ILLEGALLY. But, there are other serious problems with them proceeding, especially if it opens them up for discovery... we already KNOW they don't want to crack open any books. And as for ACORN suing Fox News, LOL, I'm sure Fox is chomping at the bit to get that summons. Instant countersuit with full discovery, will NEVER happen. ACORN may be corrupt and criminally stupid.... but they ain't suicidal.

Again with the same tired lie about 8 billion dollars going to ACORN.

The stimulus package set aside 1 billion for CBGs (community block grants) and another 4.2 million for NSPs (neighborhood stabilization programs). ACORN was in line (with several hundred other organizations) to compete for a chunk of this funding. There is no "8 billion dollars" for ACORN, or any other group for that matter. The funds would have been DIVIDED amongst the groups who win the grants. There was no guarantee that ACORN would have won the grants.

Here is an excerpt from a Fox News article on the grants (since that's probably the only source you'd believe, anyway)
"House Republican Leader John Boehner issued a statement over the weekend noting that the stimulus bill wending its way through Congress provides $4.19 billion for "neighborhood stabilization activities."
He said the money was previously limited to state and local governments, but that Democrats now want part of it to be available to non-profit entities. That means groups like ACORN would be eligible for a portion of the funds."
