Acid soil causing calcium def. so I fed it milk.

Just kidding about the milk.

Strain: Blue Mystic
Medium: Fox Farm Ocean Forest (was at 6.3 - 6.8 PH when started). No added perlite or other substance.
Phase: Two weeks into flower, vegged for a month
Fert: Nothing for veg, and haven't start Fox Farm Big bloom due to acidic soil.
Water Supply: City water, left out for 24 hours, ph is always 6.5-6.7
Pot size: 1.5 Gallon

Problem: Shame on me for not checking the PH of my soil runoff more often. Everything was looking so good until I noticed obvious signs of Calcium def. I checked the soil run off and to my surprise the PH was hovering around 4!! I almost crapped and decided to buy some "PH up" from the local pet store. I wanted to bring up the PH slowly so I flushed it with PH 8 water twice a week. The soil PH won't raise above 5 using this method. I flushed with PH over 9 water and still the run off is at 5. It is crazy. Any suggestions on how to quickly get my soil up to 6.8? It has been between 4-5 PH for the past two weeks and I am starting to see other nutrient lock outs?!!? Help me my brothers and sisters!

I feel your pain dude, I lost half my fan leaves due to ph problem and soil being under 6. Trying to bring the ph back into range with a higher ph water wont do the trick, you gotto get some lime and work it into the top soil as well to make the soil sweeter. I bought some today and applied it, Ill see how it goes. I got the hydrated lime because I need the change to happen now and not later due to being a month into flowering. Good luck keep me posted on your method and outcome.
Thanks

Hey these are good thoughts. The lime will also help my calcium problem + raise PH. I wonder if you can foliar feed with lime? The egg shells will also provide calcium and increase ph according to iastate.edu agro tests. I watered my girls again today with high PH water (9.5 PH) and the run off is at 6 on both plants! I think I will lay off of the "PH up" water mix and add a little lime + egg shells to the top soil. I am also going to investigate foliar feeding with lime to hopefully provide a quick fix to my calcium def. This site is great! I will update you with the results.
