This is a hypothetical thread regardig smell elimination, specifically eliminating the odor compounds that allow canines to smell packages in transit via mail.
Hypothetically, let's say someone in a low value per pound area decided to ship product on a consistent Bahia to a high value per pound area. The Internet has pretty abominable quality of information on the subject. Two things I've noticed that stood out as at least believable are these:
1) Given time odor will permeate any substance, and
2) as a result, overnight shipping is preferable.
Now I'm aware of parties who have been doing this for years without incident in a pretty sloppy manner. They send clandestine goods such as electronic equipment etc, containing double or triple vacuum-sealed containers filled with several ounces of pot mixed in with the goods, so if opened the packages look semi legit. They also don't actually overnight their packages, they use those prepaid shipping containers which take 2 days to ship. Frankly I'm pretty amazed they haven't had a single interdiction.
My interest would be in using a method which is completely fool proof.
I had the thought that you could use a standard liquid container, specifically cosmetic variety. Empty the bottle, then push in a package of triple vacuum sealed bags lined with vaseline, refill the cosmetic container, then use glue to re apply the peel-off seal to make it appear as if the cosmetic container had never been opened. A fake invoice could be made and everything, and I see that as a much more effective method.
The idea is that not only would the odor have to permeate the layers in the order of vacuum bag, vaseline, vacuum bag, vaseline, vacuum bag... but then the odor would have to permeate through a good thick layer of shampoo or conditioner or face cream or similar, THEN through the hard plastic layer of the actual cosmetic bottle.
I would love to test that out and get an actual drug dog give it a go and see how long it takes to permeate the layers. It seems to me as close to fool proof as one could get. Anyone have insight on this?
