About lights

Hey RIU!

Im getting ready for this season so I wanted to know your opinion on lights what Im going to use.

Im thinking to veg my plants for month or so and then get them outside. I got like 60 autos and 5 Photoperiods. I will use t8 bulbs. 4 bulbs 2 lights. Check that bulb specification. Will it be alright if I grow autos on 24 light schedule with photos and than take them all outside? Wont there be any problems with photos if I more them from 24h cycle to 13. Im thinking to keep them inside about month.

Any advice are welcome.
Cheers.

13 may be low enough for some early strains to flip into flower, but they would flip back within a couple of weeks anyway as the days got longer. I would look at the day length and frost risk charts for your location and pick a date.

My point is not to get them flowering but to start off. As its still cold outside, I want to keep them in warm and when its good enough to move them (aprox one month) I do it.

Yep, my point was check your strains, if you have early ones, wait another 2 weeks or so to get that extra 1/2 hour so they don't go into flower and slow themselves down.

Just about every genetics I've tried outside will flower at 13 light or dark either way. Hell I've done 14 mid summer for shits and she still flowered. They were all indica mostly hybrids.

That was with clones old enough to flower though. Seedlings are a different story but usually won't flower until they show pre flowers or alternating node height, regardless of photoperiod.

Bottom line: experiment with yourself or look up similar latitude out door grows, and coincide this with your harvest times. Write all the dates you put each strain outside, and yields, and use this info to plan next years grow. Looks like you'll be perpetually harvesting until the fall. Sounds awesome!

Never done auto outside, but you could drop it to 20 on and four off while inside. I never had any problems w non af strains going from 24 to outside 12/12. Temperature acclimation is more critical imo. Maybe start 20/4 a week or two before going out, along with hardening off if there's much climate change from inside to outside
