im just growing it in a closed area. its actually in my spare bedroom. i have the 1 light about 2inches away. i am going to purchase more light today.

i know mh and hps are best i have a hps bulb but the ballast that i have seen are to expensive for me at the moment. thats why i am only trying 1 plant right now.
any cheap ballast ideas would be appreciated!!

go to econolight and get the 25 dollar 150 watt hps.. or like 6. that'll solve ur problem. and yes all you need is 25

and a 40W CFL should be good for the first 2-3 weeks...... they put off 5,000 lumens.... get a red and a blue. and you could go all the way through if you really wanted too....... with one plant. hehe

Unfortunately the $20 and $25 HPS lights aren't in stock anymore. Call me paranoid but once people started buying tons of them the site took them away and put up a red "CONSULT US BEFORE BUYING" sign. Either we killed his entire stock or he doesn't take kindly to our kind... lol. (south park reference) I was just about to get one too.

so i have been reading around and i found out that purple stems growing are bad (read that i t means its low on nutes) can anyone varify this for me. and if you look at the last pic it shows the purple stem. is this bad??
