The former corporate strategy manager for Microsoft has started a company named after his great great grandfather, Diego Pellicer who grew hemp, with the aim of developing a chain of smoke shops modeled after Starbucks world wide. He already owns 3 dispensaries in the US, with 3 more in California soon to be acquired. He is in negotiations with the Mexican government with the support of former President Fox, to supply the marijuana, with the idea of taking away a major source of revenue from drug cartels. He is also espousing the tax benefits and reduction in crime to the countries he is in discussions with. The Seattle based company is seeking $10 million dollars from investors in order to expand his operations. Do you think he has any chance of making this work, or has he been smoking too much product? Do you think this will help with legalization, or is this just the beginning of the corporate take over of the marijuana industry, and would that be a good thing, or bad.
