i just wanted to hear some actual, intelligent feedback and comments from people who have used led lighting. all kinds, bulbs panels ufo's and large fixtures.

Bonnie and i just received our stealth grow 602 today and i added it to my room which already has over a 1000w of t5 ho's in it, and we have 3 90w ufo's on their way right now that should be here thursday.

so here's the deal.... post what kind of led you have and what kind of results you've gotten compared with previous attempts with other forms of lighting...... NO bad attitudes, just real, fact-based discussion!

i'll post pics of my whole grow and setup in a few days.

cheers!

I grow with a 250w HPS. I have been very interested in using LED's for multiple reasons. the heat output is like none. Very stealthy. Low energy costs. And I have seen some effective results online.

Thanks for the post smokebros. The SG 602 that we just got is blinding and runs very cool, so I am really hoping that we get some awesome results.

use the ufo for veg if u can pull of 1 use the other in flowering if u cant use both leds for veg. They will give u nice and tight internode spacing for good buds when u flower with ur hps

I started using LED's since my 400 watt HPS was causing major heat issues. Running extra fans and AC was not worth the electrical bill, especially for only having two plants in there.
So I did some research and found someone on here having good luck with 126W LED grow light, so I gave it a try and I'm loving the results compared to my 400 watt light. If I ever do use HPS light it must me a cool tube because it's very difficult to control temps in a small work place. Great thread by the way I wonder how many LED haters are going to show up to this one.
Here's some comparisons growing with my 400 watt light and LED lights.
This is White castle at 2 1/2 weeks under my new LEDs

This guy was also giving me a lot of problems during veg for some reason so I just threw it in 12/12 to see what it will do. So far its doing a lot better then I expected. t
This is also white castle under my 400 after 3 weeks. and I would upload more pictures but for some reason the picture are coming up large.

cool ty it wont matter that the ufo's are mostly red for veg ? these are red orange blue, should i even bother with the mh or just the hps bulb ? how many plants can i run with these lights ? i bought the ufos 1. for the price 2. less power / heat , then came across a used combo mh/hps real cheep so i picked it up too.

Wow! This is some great response. Your red, orange, and blue led with mostly red will veg just fine, but over the last 6 months or so a lot of companies have been producing lights with a mainly blue spectrum or a lot more blue in the spectrum for the specific purpose of vegging. I think the next big light that I am going to buy is the stealth grow SG602VEG.

There has been such a great response to this thread so far it is actually inspiring me to get Bonnie and do the work to post our entire grow. Expect that to start in the next few hours and we will post the link in this forum.

Thanks again for all the great posts and keep em comin. We are learning right along with you guys.

Pics Soon....YAY!!!

thanks for the help i cant wait to get started , got some bag seed im tr to sprout now waiting for some clippings too. i was pretty amazed at how brite the ufos are i turned them on for a few hours the other day to check them out . wow all other lights look green when u have been in the room with the leds on . im not planing on using any fans to bring air in or out , for my space is not fully seald . just a couple fans to blow on the plants and i think im gonna make my own carbon filters were the opening is with abox fan blowing the air out . any info is greatly appreciated .

Just keep in mind that plants need fresh CO2 so if your not going to get it by pumping in external air than your going to have to generate it somehow!

I would love to see someones pics on thier finished product with LED's... I've been using the big boy (1OOOW). UFO's have come down in price big time over the last year, and the technology gets better and better each year.

It visually impressive and very effective cause u get all the spectrums

We just got our 3 90 Watt UFO Quad Spectrum lights in, these should complete our lights that we need. That set up does sound like it would be very effective. How many plants are you growing with those lights?

i ran a trial in veg and was somewhat displeased with the results, my node structure could not have been better in veg but stacked up next to 6 t5s my 120 watt dual band did not cut the mustard on height, stalk girth or coverage. however, in bloom i ran the 120 vs a hortilux 1000w with a next gen ballast. the thousand did what it always does and produced a 5 3/4 oz plant in 8 weeks like clockwork. the led produced 3 1/2 oz of the most resinous medicine i've grown to date and took 5 days longer. also it turned a beautiful hue of purple on the top 12 inches or so which has never happened with this strain before now. so for vegitative, i'd stick with t5s as a main light source. the coverage and little amount of heat will put your stalks on swell in prep for bloom but for bloom after outdoor season i plan to implement about 5 300w leds to run side by side with a 400w metal halide. balance of spectrum is key even if its a couple 53w cfls hanging down. for bloom leds are the truth, and with 2 watt bulbs they have started to solve the penetration dilemma.

thanks for that link lungs, and oregon.... the mh with the 300s idea is great, i think.... bonnie and i are running LOTS of t5s with our leds, and im using mostly blue\daylight spectrum t5s to go along with the mainly red spectrum of the leds..... all my cfls i have running are over 50w each and they are all 2700\warm spectrum.... im going to do some experimenting over the next few grows to see what mix is perfect, but take a look at our grow. the spacing and height are perfect, and heat is easily managed.... bonnie is posting more backdated stuff as i speak, so hopefully within the next couple of days we will have it all caught up.
