A question about cherry pie

I'm gonna preface this with a small backstory. I've recently gotten into growing after studying the plant for 4 years and finally moving to a legal state. I have been a med patient for years and occasionally would run into chemovars labeled "GSC". It had a distinctive smell, one of cooked meats, very savory and meaty, almost like slightly pastel meat and beef/chicken broth. It was the best medicine I've been able to find but no modern cookie is like it. I don't know if it was one of the several true bay area cuts or not, but after a lot of deduction I've narrowed down this super medical variety as being just cherry pie. The reason being, I have found numerous hermies every time I got this variety (only twice, then one hash rosin batch had the nose. Pie face by archive). Archive also states that cherry pie is known to herm, just like this mystery cookie cut. I've heard gsc is really cherry pie kush, many swear CP is in cookie. So I'm wondering, has anyone quantifiably had legitimate cherry pie, or grown it, and what did it smell like? I need to isolate the source of this stink. Lol any help is appreciated, this has been driving me wild since I started smoking. I'm eyeing both purple caper and hazeman as sources for cherry pie. I think jaws has it too.

GSC is also notorious for herms. Cherry Pie Kush and Cherry Pie are not the same strain. The CPK = GSC story was started on facebook by Alan Adkisson of Growkashi and then perpetuated by Gage Green. I dont really trust a word of anything GGG says.
True, but cherry pie is in cpk, which is said to be in cookie. So makes sense that cookie herms if it has gsc in it. I'm aware that they're not only different chemovars, but from different gene pools.

If you are in Michigan you probably smoke gsc meatloaf pheno, the smell you describe sound close to it

I reckon you had a chem 91 leaning influence in the cookies from the OG they crossed in the gsc . I had it come out a couple of times - a savoury and musky (meaty) aroma . I love it to be honest and is powerful . The combination of esters , with evaporation of alcohol, produces these amazing aromas and tastes from the alcohol infused chemical reaction.

I've definitely thought about that smell coming from chem or og, but I haven't had enough experience with the varieties to tell. I used to always call it the chicken noodle soup cut, that's what it smelled like to me the first time I had it labeled as gsc

Thug pug is the only one I know to have breed with it , meat breath is meatloaf clone only of gsc x mendobreath f2
Ahh gotcha. I've had meatbreath once and seen it up close several times, but it was "finished product" at various dispensaries so it wasnt super juicy. It's hard to determine the true palate when over half of what's responsible for smell has degraded, but I didn't get exactly what I'm thinking of from it. Modern day gelato and forum crosses have a similar meat note to me, but its more so pastel creamy, savory meat. Different. What i had really was a dead ringer for beef broth and chicken noodle soup. But people interpret smells differently. That's part of what has made the hunt so difficult. Maybe it's because it's outcrossed and not a meatloaf dom pheno though.I got a bag that smelled like it in the caregiver days so someone has to have the mystery cut in MI. Only thing I've smelled it in recently was hash rosin from an archive cross (Cherry pie x Face Off OG)

Not all pheno gonna have it, a lot look like meatloaf but without the meat alike smell , I'm in the process of making some f2 to see if I have a better chance to find a meatloaf leaner

What you’re describing, from my experience, sounds more like someone used Neem Oil during flower, rather than a specific cannabis terpine.
Neem Oil smells like rotten chicken soup, its quite pungent, and long lasting.
Ingesting Neem Oil in any manner is not good for one’s health.

I can’t believe no ones mentioned this yet but you should look into GMO (aka Garlic Meat & Onions).
I think you’ll be happy with what you find.

I totally forgot about GMO. I'm flowering Chem D for the first time and it has such an interesting smell. Savory, a little bit of Body odor, with some onion/garlic undertones, little bit of diesel...not quite getting the halitosis that everyone describes, but I've smelled that in some other D crosses I've run before.
