A pollen thread

Bodhi - Silver Mountain 1 & 2

I spoke too soon.. it is going to be a few more days prbly.. not quite dropping pollen yet. soon..

All I plan for these is a one time collection of pollen, dilute, store for later use..

I
I have some Mikado males that just showed sex.. 2 so far, more to come.

Looking forward to making some Mikado seed stock. Great stuff, overlooked..

My method involves cutting a branch from a male plant, sitting in a vase, sitting on a paper plate, tapping the branch a couple times to collect pollen.

Then dilute in flour, store in freezer..

Why dilute in flour? Is that to make it last longer or absorb moisture? Always trying to learn new things. I have done a lot of pollen chucks in my day, but never attempted to store pollen.

I'm mobile right now but ill share a link to the method I used/learned the flour trick from.. UBs method.. when I.get home.

With MJ i usually have plenty of pollen anyway.. but with sweet corn the flour thing is incredibly.useful for small patches. Pollen is limited, small patches dont pollinate well, and partial ears of sweet corn are a real bummer..

Thanks for the link, I will have to give that a try in the future. I make a lot of seeds, but I have never really tried to store pollen before.

I cut a branch from each male today and brought it inside to catch some pollen..

It looks like I was a little late.. but there are still plenty of sacks that have not opened..

But, my Bubba OG outside prbly got a little bit polinated..
My outdoor Rude Dog is far along enough it won't matter.. but I am sure it got hit..

I have a nice little pile of pollen in the fridge, in a nice tight container..

Hopefully it stays viable for a month or so.. I should have everything I want pollinated with the SM pollen by then..

Nice ! You're gonna make more F2 SM ? The Bodhi lost the SM male. Hopefully that you will save this genetic. Mine is gonna get cross from Namaste. :D

I'm using STS technology, but have not yet seen pollen, probably has 28 days.
