A petition to make Narcan available without a prescription

I will sign when I get to a real computer,I'm along for vlrds attitude..I don't like em cause I died once.not fun.
 
Duck I have to say two things..one big up for posting this..most pepole don't realize or understand this particular issue..and 2nd,I'm severely dissapointed in the responses..just a few people...where's the mother fuc***g love brothers?
 
Unfortunately I think a lot of people think its a good thing when someone ODs and dies. Until its someone they care about.
 
Signed it, not a fan of herion but the narcan can save lives wich is a precious thing. Man up people and help your brother out when he needs it the most.
 
We need to try and think of some good places to spread this word. twitter and FB are the obvious ones. I can't believe you need a prescription for this stuff. You could only die from narcan if you took like 20 grams of it when the regular dose is in the Mg and less. There would be way less deaths if they taught this shit in school, and everybody had supplies like this on hand when planning on indulging opiates. Right now, without a doubt, people are dying from an opiate overdose, that could be A-OKAY with some Narcan. But they are probably slumped over in their bed with nobody around.....

Hey Duck, I'm curious as to how you knew you would have died without the Narcan? I don't doubt you... It just sheds more light on why you emphasize safety a lot.

My only experiences with naloxone were being too impatient... and getting the horrible precipitated W/d. It's like regular w/d x 10. For me at least.
 
Well I can't be certain but apparently I went about two minutes without breathing between falling out and drawing a breath after it was administered.
 
Doesn't really apply to my lifestyle. My Heroin exposure is really limited. A perc 30 and a few lines of opana and I'm as far gone as I could handle.

Do you heroin guys ever mix a little glass in with your shot?


Anyways, I did my part. Looks like we have a long way to go!! Theres still time though.
 
I cooked an oc 80 and shot it,nodded out with my fist on my chin,slumped,and stayed propped on my chin with my arm..cut off all my breathing,circulation..only resucitated by my ex..who I guess I owe my life to..enough war stories..this needs to become an issue that people see ...like its been said,can't recover if you're dead..a life is a precious thing no matter how fucked up it is or will become..it will ALLWAYS BE WORTH SAVING.
 
Yes,usually users of heroin frequently use other narcotics to leven out the high..to maintain...speed balls..j. belushi,chris farley..not advisable..just another variable to deal with in o.d.s....narcan work for amphetamines...doubt it...which is a factor to consider..

I hear what your saying, but Belushi and Farley didn't use amphetamines they used cocaine. I don't see it being a factor really. The cause of death from a speed ball is usually still an opioid overdose.

I would think as long narcan doesn't conflict with other narcotics is should would work just the same. I doubt it would work for amphets but rarely does a person overdose on meth or amphets. It takes ignorant doses to achieve a fatal overdose.
 
This is a pretty beefy stat.
CDC estimates that US programs for drug users and their caregivers prescribing take-home doses of naloxone and training on its utilization are estimated to have reversed 10,000 opioid overdose deaths.

Oh there are lots of ways a new user, who doesn't shoot anything up can find themselves in trouble. Now I am not sure but I think I could see a person of low body weight getting in trouble with a whole 80 up her nose.

It's a good idea at any rate.
 
I understand they didn't use meth(well maybe,but not when they died) ..you asked if heroin users put some glass in their shots..yes they do..also use coke,to mediate the nod..so they are lucent and can enjoy the heroin without passing out through the majority of the effects...coke,crack,meth,coffee,nicotine....all very welcome by addicts...canndo,don't think a mg per lb of body weight sounds advisable..perhaps over a lengthy adjustment of usage..but I couldn't imagine my 12 year old eating an o.c. 80,much less snorting one...her or any other sized human...I severely hope she never sees one.
