Hello everyone!

Long time reader, but this is my first post. Long story short, after lots of research we decided to go big or go home. So we ordered some seeds from seedsman and away we go. 55 seeds (10 white widow, 10 Jack herer, 10 mama mia, and the rest are odds and ends...nevilles haze, lemon haze, critical, and 8 ball kush.) Too bad we didn't start a grow journal earlier but we terminated the seeds with the paper towel method, all of them popped, then we put them into seedling cells under a t5. 44 of them reached the light and now we are still going strong with 44. I guess our main issues are temp control but we are doing the best we can with a pretty constant temp of 85 f. We see some folding of leaves sometimes and other days everyone is fine. We had 2 plants get droopy but recently transplanted them into 5 gallon smart pots and they perked up.

A little about our grow area. It is in a master bedroom in our lower level which is partially underground so temperature doesn't get too hot. We have a.c. running but it barely helps with the room when all the lights are going. We have 5 600w hps in air cooled hoods. We need to put up some fans in the hoods but are having some difficulty with figuring out ducting and how to mount the fans. The space we are working with is about 450 sqft with 12 ft ceilings.

It is about to be a jungle in there but it's fun! Our set up is a little crazy and unorganized but for some noobs we are still going strong. We are at about 5 weeks of veg currently and are about to switch to flower since everyone is getting pretty big.

Tips and tricks are appreciated!!

Do you think 44 plants and 5 600w hps are going to be enough?

If you're using the entire 450 sq ft you're looking at 6.7 watt/sq ft.

I'm an led grower so maybe I'm wrong, but that will be extremely under powered. For instance... I'm running 730 watts in a 16 sq ft tent.

Yeah you need to get that ducting/exhaust fan setup pronto. Hopefully your ceiling fan is running full blow as well.

It'd cost thousands, but you could do some magical things with a good COB setup in there. And heat would no longer be an issue.

severly under light as @LEDandCoffee said. The footprint of a 600W light is only around 3x3 feet. You only have enough light for 10% of that room.To light it properly you would need between 15k and 20k of lights. You only putting out 3k of light right now. You might be able to pull something off if you group them in a SoG and flower them right now.

Way too late to SOG if he's 5 weeks into veg. IMO, move everything into one area of the room to concentrate the light, do a good defoliage removing large fan leaves, and shave their legs. Basically cut everything off on the bottom half of the plant.

Yea, as you can see I have each light hanging and underneath them I currently have them in 1 gallon pots in 3x3 trays and they all fit in the proper space for the light but once I transplant all of them in 5 gallon pots the space is too great and I can only have 4 plants in each 3x3 space.

I can definetly keep them as concentrated as possible and trim them up. I've been scared to trim their big leaves cause I don't want them to get shocked lol

I personally think people over-exaggerate when it comes to "over trimming". I just took a half a garbage of fan leaves off my girls to transition into flower. They looked like shit for about 2 hours and perked right back up. Although, I'm growing in coco. Everything seems to take longer in soil.

Basically, they're going to be ugly as fuck for a few days then in a week they'll look amazing. I suggest this because if you don't do it you'll likely have a ton of larf on the bottom of your plants. Which is great if you're after kief/bubble hash. Not so great if you're looking for bud.

IMO you could've cut the amount of plants in half and been a lot better off.

Do you intend to clone anything?

That is great advice! I think I will trim off some of the big bottom leaves and clean it up.

I do plan on cloning the girls that have really skyrocketed the whole time. I read that the success rate of cloning is like 1 in 10 tho.

Even good cloners average a bit over 80% average rates. So as long as you get 8 out of 10 you are doing OK. (not including aerocloners) I wouldn't use one unless I am 100% hydro.
