a look at my northern light plant

Hello, this is my 5 week old northern light plant. I did have 2 (this being the smaller) but the other lass's stem broke just below the ground level and fell over. Not sure how this happened as nothing fell on it. Never mind she never healed and now she's gone. This is my 1st grow and fingers crossed it's going not too bad. She has a bit of yellow round the tips. Im only watering mainly and a seaweed feed every 1.5 - 2 weeks. Not wanting to over complicate the matter as it's trial and error at the moment.
My light is a 400w bulb as did have it a bit close to the plant for a few days and she suffered a bit of heat stress because of that.
Anyway im hopein to put into flower in about 2 weeks. Will see how it goes.
As i say i think it's going not to bad but if anyone does spot anything then please comment. Could do with as much info as possible to be honest.
Anyway i'll post as it goes.

Ease up on Nitrogen alot. Otherwise looks good. The yellow tips is from N too. If you're feeding every 1.5 to 2 weeks then either the soil has alot of nutes or you're giving too much at a time. Except that, looks like it's gonna be some good bud.

Cheers Ganja, thought it might have been to little. Will take your advise and hold fire on the feed for now. done a flush about a week ago so will just water. when i feed with the seaweed im using a capfull to about 4.5 ltrs but not putting whole lot in. the soil im using is miracle grow expand n grow.
saying that if planning the start budding in 2 weeks or so not much point in adding anymore feed other than watering.

a little update on what im doing. decided last night to put her into flower, wasn't going to but impatience got the better of me. seeked some advise last night to see if i was near ready.(thanks for the input people) plants at a no bad size and i just thought why not? gave her a watering yesterday, still got some yellowing around the tips of the new grow but hope that this wont be an issue as just going to be watering for the next 2-3 weeks to try asnd sort this. checked in this morning and got a bit more heat stress on the tops leaves but will have to wait untill light go back on the night to sort this as wasn't pissing about with that at 4.30 this morning. other than that everything else remians the same. i'll post a couple of photo's later the night when doing a bit of maintance.

updates - now 5 days into flower and been checking with much eger to she if i have a girl but still a couple of days yet i think. plant really starting to bush out. just leaving it as it is as it's my 1st grow and last plant so i'll do the experementing in the next grow. gain some more experiance that way.
just been watering the last few feeds and nut prob seems to be calming down. (wont be using miracle grow again as the nuits have been a bit of a pain in the arse). you live and learn as they say.
calmed the heat stress as well so think got ontop of my problems or certainly getting there. not much else been hapening so hopefully in a few days i'll be anouncing the sex.

also i've been looking at seeds for the next generation and been reading a few people have been growing 12/12 from seed. does any know the pro's and cons from this? they dont seem to have problems with this and was thinking of giving it a try as it would mean i could get the next crop on the go sooner rather than waiting till harvest.

Looks like a female to me. Also, we are at about the same growth level. I switched to 12/12 yesterday but pre-flowers showed like on week 4 under 18/6.

thats pretty much the same as myself, was planning putting into flower about week 7 but was showing the start of week 4 so made the switch the start of week 5. it does look like a girl but not wanting to count my chickens just yet so going to wait a couple of days before i get my hardon. haha.
just about to check your journal so i'll be onboard for your grow. happy growing chaky.

yip yip it's a girl. so proud. havent done that much with her since, just been watering as she's getting thirsty. leaves are looking more green and pretty much got rid of the yellow from the nuits. been working long hours this week so just took a quick photo the night. she's getting quite bushy but going au natural with her as 1st grow and last plant so not wanting to do anything drastic. will save the topping and cropping for my next batch. going to order the seeds this week and was wondering if there's a preference between growie seeds and sea of seeds?? if anyone has any recommendations between these i would be gratefull for the input. anyway thats about it so just going to keep the mantaince till the weekend when i've got a bit more time to see whats what.
