A homemade garden question?

I have 2 homemade drip/aero systems. Basically 2 10 qt tubs with a pump system and a air-stone in the reservoir. Both are idenical exept one has 6" pots and the other has 4" pots. I am using clay pellets for the media. The problem is the guarden with the 6" pots seems to go through water quite rapidly. I put 2 gallons in the garden with 4" pots and I haven't hardly lost any fluid. The garden with the 6" pots seems to go through about 2 gallons every 24 hours. It's not leaking...seems to be evaporating. Kinda confused about this. Both gardens are working great other than that. Is this a product of the size of the pots? Thanks in advance

I don't know any better but I'm in the mood to guess!

For one thing a 6" pot has over 28 sq" of surface area, while a 4" pot is less than 13 sq". Gotta be evap.
