a few questions from a first timer

hi guys, superb site, have read many posts and i can see this is a helpful and friendly place to go

first of all let me give you a few details

this will be a mainly outdoor grow (in the UK) no artificial lighting will be used. have a nice window shelf inside if it rains

i am 99% sure i wont get any bud, and i understand that (before everyone goes telling me) its more of a hobby/challenge/bit of fun to which i dont plan to spend any amount of money on, other than a few seeds, good soil, pots etc

the seeds were bought from Nirvana and are a variety suited for colder climates and outdoor growing to increase my probability of bud by 0.002%

so like i said this is all a bit of fun really, but i dont mind trying a few things, i will use decent soils and foods

so my questions would be, would it even be worth perhaps knocking up a greenhouse style wood framed box with the clear plastic ala greenhouse to increase my chances by another 1%

i found a seed in a bag i bought a few weeks ago and planted that and its growing well, although a little stretched (i imagine because its stretching to get more light)((aint gonna happen little fella)

i also have a shed that lets no daylight in whatsoever, should i even attempt to (if the plant gets to any decent size) to do 12 hours daylight and 12 hours dark to try and make it flower or not bother or just leave them and ways for the days to become shorter

as i said, i know its highly unlikely anything will happen so no need to tell me not to bother at all hehe, its all in good fun

if you could answer my questions, and also any (very) basic tips to help the grow would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Raf

get some bamboo sticks soon, that is the first i going to advise you one;) england is a green island so it should grow, what strain did you purchase at nirvana? one of there outdoor sativa strains? this could mean trouble for you but i guess if you won't screw up to badly you gone have some sort of bud in the end;)

that greenhouse would be from advantage but is damn hard to hide maybe and raise some questions, so you have to see yourself on that one i guess.

If you get them past the first couple weeks of life I bet money you'll get some buds as long as you don't overfert or neglect them. Once you get them with a good root base it's all downhill from there. Just keep in mind it's just a "weed" and not try to treat and diagnose every little thing you'll be all good. I know in my 1st experiences I "nuked" them with nutients and always fucked them up. Keep it simple, lots of light and good soil. Good Luck and keep posted.

Hi and thanks for the replies

the one i chose from Nirvana was New Purple power, it says its for outdoors, and good for colder/wetter climates was this a bad choice? if so which would you guys go for if i attempt this again?

with th bamboo how to i tie it? just some twine from a garden centre or does it not really matter

i am not sure about the "greenhouse boxes" it wont be seen so thats not a issue, i just want to know if its worth the effort and will improve results

Cheers

will keep you updated

Hey Raf, pleased to meet you.

I too am growing in England, somewhere in Cheshire to be abit more precise.
I have a south facing conservatory on my house and the 5 i have in there are doing ok, I am on top of them at all times though as am not working due to prolapsed disc, if it is sunny i put them out in the full sun, if raining bring em in etc, last couple of nights have been around the 5 degree mark so i have a small electric heater which i leave on to take the chill off the room, then turn off about 9 and let the sun do its job.
I also have another 5 under 2 x 125 watt 6400k envirolites which are also doing ok on a 24/0 schedule but i still think that my conservatory ones have the edge in terms of growth etc.

If you want to put them out then some opaque polythene tunnel arrangement will work fine and grow some other shit close by Toms-peppers sweet corn etc to camo up your grow if thats a problem, you would be surprised how effective tomato plants are as a disguise for your ganga, from a distance you have to be the bionic man to tell the difference.

Anyway good luck hope you get some bud & Happy growing-which is what it is all about really havin some fun to see if you got what it takes to grow yer own money trees!!!!

All the best

hey M0r1arty and FilthyFletch

Thanks for the reply, i live on the south coast, my seeds arrived from Nirvana today and they are off to germinate now, i will knock up a greenhouse this weekend, being seen is not really a issue as i have a big garden with various spots that can be seen by no one, but i will be using the coloured plastic just in case

fingers crossed for a good summer!
