A few questions about dudes

Does a dude smell when allowed to flower? I want to collect some pollen and preserve some genetics but I'm not sure if I even need a carbon filter. Also, how long will the pollen remain adequate for and do I have to do anything special when preserving it? (refrigerate etc. )

Also wondering when the balls ejaculate if the pollen just kind of falls everywhere or if the plant actually explodes the pollen so it goes airborne?

Males do smell, but not as bad as the females, avoid the use of filters or fan , but let him suffer as you really can't risk pollen getting out and pollinating any females, preserve caught pollen in the freezer with a few rice grains to suck up water, as its water thats the enemy of pollen,
Best to lean the male 45 degree over a large clean mirror, allow the pollen to fall, and scrap up with a knife or razor ..once dry store in the freezer use within 6 months, Oh apply with a q-tip or finger to the lower branches and mark with tape

Great idea about using the mirror. I use an artist brush to apply the pollen to the pistils. Also, *if* you can find any, a plastic 35mm film canister makes the perfect container for pollen.

Pimp is correct, if you can find any ,,,lol I use old vitamin or pill bottles, in either case I over use those silca gel sachets you get with them, I find brushes tend to flick the pollen about too much, this above technique works for each flower, if you wanna seed the whole plant, tip a teaspoon of pollen into a trash bag, hold close and shake like hell...then FLIP it onto the waiting female like flipping on a hat or jacket, leave on for 20 minutes, then remove, keep away from other females for 8-12 hours, then spray(foilar feed) with water to de-activate the unused pollen.

Actual sex is very similar to mammal sex, the pollen or sperm travels down a tube hits the egg, they mingle and one pollen finds its way to the spot and settles, the rest is wasted, whole thing takes 15-20 minutes.

No smoking afterwards tho ....lol
