a few common questions...

I have been reading about growing for a long time, and have grown a small amount myself and I have a few questions...

1) I've been told that the grow room should stay under 85 degrees F

don't they grow a lot of pot in places like South America, where it routinely gets to over 130 degrees? is there a reason you shouldn't let your grow room get over 85? cause mine generally tends to get to 95 to 100, seems ok, but I want to really make it the best for the plants... but I like to focus on growing as naturally as I can inside.

2) over watering...

I use pots with holes on the bottom, and the water can pass right through. I have always been told that I cannot over water as long as there are holes in the bottom of the pot... plus every morning it is dry as a bone so I pretty much give them as much water as will fit in the bottom pan. The plants seem to be just fine with this. But on the other side, I've let them dry out before, and it takes an entire hour to go from healthy to almost dead, so wouldn't it be safer to over water than to underwater?

3) bud/veg lights

I have 2, 4 foot T5 dual bulb fixtures with 3 5000k bulbs and one 2500k bulb, and then I have 3 clamp fixtures (at the moment all with 6500k lights) but during bud I can put 2600k bulbs in those fixtures...

While budding, should I mix the lights? or can I just use the 2600k all around? would that be enough light? I don't have the fixtures to have them all burning. The 4 foot T5's will remain the same at all times, but the main light comes from those cfl's

Over 85 can stunt growth and cause other problems. Those strains that grow in hot places are indigenous and have adapted to it. Most common strains today are indigenous to indoor growing environments. they can grow in high heat, but it can stress them.

If your pots are drying out every day, then you are not overwatering them, but you might consider some bigger pots. Also, the water will evaporate faster the higher the heat is.

Over watering would be watering when they don't need it. sounds like yours need it though.

"studies" show that having the most complete lighting spectrum is most ideal. A mixture of lights is good, maybe more of the 5000k during veg, and more 2600k during flower, but some of both is good to have.

hope this helps.
