I was looking around on fb for more equipment.

I found an ad for a 1000 watt setup...... it is actually a 600 luminex ballast witha 1000 watt bulb with superlumens turned on.

Sounds like a superfucked system. Overworking a ballast and under charging a bulb. Am I wrong or is it a good way to run? Sounds like a fire hazard.....

Use of any lamp of higher rated wattage than the capacity of the ballast would be contraindicated, by any manufacturer or person with common sense. Stay away from that one.

Doesn't sound good. But I don't think you would be overworking the ballast, the ballast puts out X amount of power for the bulb. You would be running the bulb at a far lower power setting than it was designed to handle so it wouldn't be as bright as it should be. Not an optimal situation, but I don't think it would be a hazard.

I could be wrong about that though.
