Thanks man, awful nice of you to say so.

The Venus Flytrap are just amazing the shit out of me right now. Long ass, easy to trim buds (high bud to leaf ratio). Oh, yes, they are from Nirvana. My whole grow, and immediate future is with their stock. And if they treat me good, I will be faithful for a long time.

The VF's range from 31" to 36" or so. The "Huge Bitch" is wispier, the 3 headed monster is denser tighter more Indica type, and the smallest sister is kind of between the two. I love that they have tiny, whiskery type pistils. I agree that they have "bag appeal" for sure, between the low leaf count, limited "hairs", purple calyxes, and a strange, but pleasant scent I describe only as unique.

Though my thread title is 2 X 600 W, I have had them dialed back to 400 W each, then back to 360W each for about a month now, to compensate for the summer heat. Proof enough for me that a plant in its comfort zone, will yield as well or better than a plant simply showered with light and overheated. And yes I also now believe a plant can get too much light.

So, I have the lights about 24" away from all plants. The taller plants are off to the sides to help keep a rough equi-distant setup. Perhaps they would do better a little closer, but with this many varying plants, I can't afford to drive them all to their limits. To much detective work trying to narrow down deficiencies and issues if they are going TOO crazy.

Wow, that means alot coming from you. Take care, and I hope you enjoy the show.

And to all, please feel free to throw out constructive criticism, as this grow has NOT gone 100% to plan. Any ideas for coco, especially. Still learning this medium......the good and the bad.

It's nice to see someone doing so well with good ol' Nirvana genetics. Their stuff IS good, but I could no longer take the anxiety of waiting for international mail. Real nail-biter sometimes...

Ah, your grow brings back fond memories of my outing with Nirvana stuff. The ICE in particular I can't say enough about. When my top nugs dried, they were still ridiculous in size. I remember they were to big for regular sized jars so I had to borrow my friend's giant pickling jars (like the kind that you see in old-time bars full of pickled eggs), as I didn't have the heart to tear up such huge works of art. The jars smelled amazing. Very reminiscent of some great Hawaiian crosses that were floating around the Humboldt County area in the early 90's.

I would love to see you grow it out properly. I can hardly wait to see how your Ice goes. Your other strains were your main yielders this time... But watch that ICE!

Oh, damn. You're doing Ice in hydro? Where's your journal?
I think he mentioned he will be starting one soon. I can't wait to see it.

BUT.....I found more hermies on the ICE, none on the other plants. I dont think I want to bother with it myself, as beautiful as it is. Something I am doing does not agree with the ICE genetics.

LOL, I am bored, and have no life so I think up stupid shit........ But if you go up to Thread Tools, then subscribe. If not getting notifications, it might be a setting in your account profile or such.

I am trying to figure out the cupping I am experiencing with my leaves. If you refer to the 3rd pic from the bottom of my second to last post (the Snow White) you can really see it.

Now, as far as I can tell, it's some kind of water/root stress. I am thinking the plants are cupping to reduce surface area exposed to light, and thus less transpiration of water to the atmoshphere. It's like the plants lose more water than they are uptaking from the roots.

Almost like shading itself from the light and conditions. Perhaps upping my rH would help.....though my recent blast of bud rot kind of makes me lean away from that option.

Anyone have any suggestions. They still seem to be doing quite well, despite all the cupping, but I would like to at least try to figure out the cause.

Thanks in advance to any help. This is the first op I have ever had the plants do this.
Thats usually a sign of heat stress bro when the blade tips are all curling upward like that.....Thats why I asked about the bud rot too and it might explain why it happened when your fans were off cause of heat when lights are on and then off it might of got humid in there and having some stale air will always invite mold,pm etc...."Warning this is just my opinion, I dont know what I am doing, just guessing....LOL" Regardless your shit is dank as fuck bro! Keep up the good work, just keep an eye out for mold cause if its in a plant, it can take up to a week before showing any signs of it. "Warning......"

Peace

I agree. I am being extremely vigil with the plants as far as mold lately. The room is really comfortable and not that hot though. I can barely sense a difference between the outside room and the closet. And the exhaust fan empties the room 24/7, and it draws alot of air.

The radiant heat (which is pretty intense), though, I think is maybe killing them, stressing the leaves. The ambient temp stays about 80 degrees at plant tops. For the size of the space, I have a good deal of wattage/lumens/yadda yadda going on, even dialed back. Only 16 square feet, with 2-600 W HPS (running @ 360 W each right now)

I am also still trying to get used to this coco medium. I can see the HUGE potential in it, I just haven't gotten it dialed in yet. I started off lite on the nutes, then I was forced to try to catch up, and I may have dosed them too much. Locked them up.......messed the pH (though my runoff water is reading 6.0-6.1)

Not by any means my most efficient grow, but I am pleased with the results I have achieved so far. And thanks for the praises, I appreciate it.

I would take those plants anyday bro...you are doing just fine, You might want to get some string, mini temp gauge and rig it so its at your canopy that way you can see what the temps are at the plant's canopy. I too am having problems getting dialed in with Coco. I love how the plants explode with growth in them but I cant seem to find the sweet spots for feeding yet. I will drop by tomorrow, I gotta go paw myself....meooooow.LOL Love that avi bro!!!!

hey devildog, I am using coco and really enjoy the medium (most of the times, lol) I find that a once a week flush is in order and seems to balance out over feeding and build up as well. So basically every third water (or at least once per week) I just water with plain water, no feed. Take it easy, DST

I will try to follow this advice. I had a good rythm going on with feeding for a while, but as the plants have all started showing individuality, and varying growth and vigor traits, keeping them all happy has become increasingly difficult.

It's like having 13 kids, all different, all wanting different stuff, with different goals in life. I think a max of two plant types is needed in order to reasonably maintain a healthy routine.

Thanks for the advice DST, I will try to stick with your suggestion on the next batch.

Sorry, I haven't got to smoke the Venus Flytrap yet so I can't speak on the smoke.

I also like the high bud-leaf ratio. Should be VERY easy to trim, and they have tiny, spordadic FuManChu whiskery hairs. The purple is a nice attractive trait as well.

Thanks for stopping in guys. I appreciate it :)

Some Venus Flytrap shots.......

The "Huge Bitch !!"........

A side bud on the "Huge Bitch !!" Venus Flytrap

The 3 headed, lanky Venus Flytrap.........looks like 3 snap shots of it waking up to the light......."Huh, what? Who's there?"

The "llittle sister" Venus Flytrap............

The "Huge Bitch !!" and the "little sister" side by side shot.................(sorry not very clear)

A "Family shot" of the rest of the gang......

A good shot of the varying phenos I am dealing with.............(The tiny little ICE plant in the lower left shows the contrasting variations)
