Please take the time, to write EVERY SINGLE Ohio Rep and Tell them NO on House Bill 86. Here is the link to contact them.

Here is a article that explains why.

We JUST managed to pass Issue 2 and now they already want to Up the tax, Lower the number of Places allowed to both grow and sell, and take away the right to grow Our Own.

I messaged every single one of them and it took like 10-15 mins with Auto Fill and Copy and paste. I am ONE voice, ONE can be ignored, they CAN NOT ignore all of US if we flood their Email.

Dang, man. The electorate voted for the issue 57% for, 43% against and a month later some Republican lawmaker is trying to break it. Republicans simply don't want to live in a democracy. Good luck. I hope you folks win your fight and send such a strong message to fucks like that guy that nobody messes with it again.

And they want to steal the tax money and put it toward law enforcement training and building county jails, which is in direct conflict with the law we passed and makes no sense at all. Their excuse: we are dumb and were incapable of comprehending the text of the law we voted for, so they need to fix it for us. When are we going to learn and vote these idiots out of office? Speak up, tell them we passed the law because it is what we wanted.

On one of the FB groups I follow. This guy goes to the meetings and he posted this just a little while ago.

But I'll believe it when I see it.

So there will be SOME changes, but they are overall a WIN for us. We can still Grow at home tho its 6 plants now instead of 12, Sucks but ill take it if I can still grow at home, and now dispensarys will be able to sell rec as soon as the bill passes which is an improvement over it waiting until sept next year, and the tax rate is going up to 15% which is still less than I pay on my Cigs so ehhh, it sucks but we kept home grow which is what I was most worried about.

As I understand it. They missed the deadline and still has to be voted on and that it wouldn't take effect for 90 days.

So issue 2 that was voted on by the people should be still in intact at midnight.

Overall I can't say I'm displeased with how things are going , I'll wait and reserve my final judgment after this vote in 90 days .
The government isn't exactly known for telling the truth
No they are not but these changes have to be public record for the news sources to get them so I dunno on the fence myself now that the initial excitement has passed.

Where does the house stand? It doesn't seem like they are on board with the senate.

Issue 2 still stands for now, yes. But it is still problematic because as of now we have no legal source for weed. I wanted to see a more equitable dispensary system, with a much lower cost of entry, but permitting existing medical dispensaries to add adult use sales makes sense. Yes, that will still take 90 days (for the new law allowing that to go into effect, which is standard in Ohio), but that is a faster route to legal sales than rebuilding the distribution system and coming up with new regulations - that would probably have taken nine months.

The way I see it, the senate bill, if it passes in the House, is a bit of a mixed bag. It doesn't gut Issue 2 as badly as some in the GOP had proposed, while it still allows home grows, speeds up the first legal sales, includes a provision for expungement of possession convictions, and puts the opposition at ease by banning public smoking. It isn't perfect but could certainly have been worse. Once they see the staggering amount of tax money begin to pour in, expansion and further progress will be on the table. I hate to settle, but political compromises are rare enough here, so I'll take it and look at our progress as a huge step in the right direction. I still need to see how the tax money will be allocated initially.

i chatted with a couple of dispo employees today. their management is estimating that rec will be full operational no earlier than next october. and if you want to make sure you have access to dispo weed, keep or obtain a med card. if it's anything like what happened in missouri, when rec goes online next year there will likely be an inventory issue. ohio is bordered by states that don't even have medical yet, so that will compound the demand issue. the thinking is that med card holders will have priority for inventory over rec, and the taxes on medical are about 7-8%, whereas rec will be at least 15%, possibly more. and med thc % will be higher than rec, potentially.

ORRRRR just grow your own. haha!
