actually the 2 mini splits that i have draw less amps then my electricians 48btu central a/c does (meaning im paying less) also what's cooler about them?

i have a extra 5 thousand btu and a 8 thousand btu window unit if any interest pm

Yes kindfarms, very nice unit indeed!
That was my biggest sell was the seer rating. An average is 13, these are supposed to be 50 less per month then the average mini split. That is damn near an extra Raptor kindfarms.
I still have some hillbilly shit going. lmao. I am finishing the room the ac is in, so during lights on, I have the ac cranked up and it is cooling my entire basement and I have a fan blowing the cool air into the current bud room. roflmao.

the seer rating was a big part of my decision. the lg with a 20 was the winner. it is cheaper than my old 5500 btu window unit to run.

Hey best thread yet lots of good info. I'm rebuilding a flower room and want a similar set up. i have 12k on a flipbox alternating 6 on 6 off every hr. The hoods vented on their on line from another room. I have a 10" fresh air intake with a cone filter and a 12" vortex 2052cfm exhausting thru a carbon filter. What I want to do is upgrade my ventilation and run glassless non-vented hoods.So this is what I'm thinking about put my 12" 2050cfm on my fresh air intake and put a 16" vortex v-series 4515cfm on the exhaust to run every 3min and add a 24000 btu mini split to help as back up if things get hot. Any thoughts on what may go wrong and what I should or shouldn't do or get.

I got an idea for using a window AC unit indoors.
My bloom room is smaller than some tents - 4' x 5' - with @ 1600W lighting.
I cool my 1000W with closed fan system; that works great.
But my 600 watts of cfl's heats up the environs more than I like sometimes.

I made controls and stuff and can auto-switch sidelights based on temperature.
But I want them to be able to run all day during the Summer heat.
So I need additional cooling in my bloom room.
I have central air; but that costs a fortune to run all day just for my grow.

So I have been on the lookout for the tiniest BTU AC unit I could find.
The smallest unit I found is 5000 BTU's.
There are several models at that rating; I got the one I can afford that is supposed to run real quiet.
It utilizes a "Closed" cooling system; this is important because I don't want to exchange air - I only want to cool the air in the room.

I had a portable unit that worked real good but I could not vent it outside for the smell.
It was not a "Closed" system.
My friend Glad bought my portable for a buck and a quarter.
My new unit costs a hundred twenty six; so he owes me a dollar.

Here's my idea: Build a soundproof sheet metal box around the back of the window unit and run a closed exhaust through it.
Much the same as my HID lamp is cooled: I pull fresh air through a filter into the hood.
I then discharge from the hood into vent pipes to the roof.
I have another extra vent from the crawlspace I use to draw HID air from.

So I am going to build this box, and mount AC unit in it.
Then I will run vent line from crawlspace to one side.
Next I will run another vent from the other side of box.
That will discharge with fan out of side of house in the form of a baffled dryer vent.

Think it will work?
I am going to use some commercial fiberglass vent insulation for the box.
I guess they use it in large vents to reduce the air noise, etc.
So I'm fairly confident I can make it quiet enough to not disturb the peace.

I think it was a great idea Marty. It got me through the summer. My window unit is a 2 ton. I was going to build a box around it, but it created
so much heat the 10x10 room it exhausted into was it's box. Now I am growing in that box part and getting ready to rip the drywall out of original 10x10.

window ac broke last night due to extreme cold.

can anyone help me out or recommend a good mini split. i dont want the unit to freeze up and break down. does this happen with them?

when the minisplits are not cooling does a fan keep running or does it cut power to the fan?

i need around 18,000 btu so far this is the track i am on. any suggestions?

are these a lot more effecient electrical use wise. my window unit stayed on 24/7 because power saver mode had too much fluctuation for me and i could not find a 230 volt day/night controller. anyone know where to get a 230 volt day/night cotroller? As far as i know they do not make them and it has to be wired into a thermostat manually.

the cold unit did or didnt hook up ?

didn't. He claimed it isn't possible, the wires are not compatible or some bullshit. That was a few weeks after the fact.
We will see. Either way, they will not be installing any more of my units.

the head control unit from Pex posted here is a low voltage head unit control...will not work on my unit either...needs a high voltage unit...

We are remodeling and upgrading lots of shit now that we have some time.
How do I disconnect this unit and store it without fucking it up?
