For example a plant requiring 12 weeks to flower. So is it 12 weeks from when the lights are changed to 12/12? Or is it 12 weeks from the first sighting/display of sex hairs/balls?
Because say for example i change lights to 12/12 but due to some problem the plant goes into flower late in the sense that first sign of sex is seen at 21-28 days into12/12. So in that case 28 days later at only the first sight of hairs/pistils it would already be 4 weeks in to the 12 weeks leaving only 8 weeks to finish. Or does the counting start from when the first pistils/balls are seen? so that a plant that suffered and went into flowering late still gets the 12 weeks needed for the flowers to form grow ripen etc. PLEASE SOMEONE ENLIGHTEN ME ON THIS TOPIC!!!!

i always start counting at the first sign of flowers, to get a ball park estimate, but i still checks trichs to get maximum ripeness

When they say a plant requires 12 weeks of flowering that is not an exact time frame. Its just a general idea and most strains will be close to that period but not always.

You should base your decision of when to harvest on the color of the trichomes on the plant. Do some research on what the different colors mean but I generally go with 50-50 amber for a narcotic couch lock type high which is great for medical use.

To answer your question as it was asked; I count from the first day the 12/12 cycle began regardless of when the plant starts actually flowering.

Very interesting two different answers already!! Donkeyote starts counting from the first sign of flowers, whereas mr bomb counts from the day light is changed to 12/12 regardless of when the plant starts to flower. Very interesting!! I think i will have to wait on some more answers to this one!! THAK YOU BOTH DONKEYOTE AND MR BOMB
