90 degree bend fitting for ducting - improved efficiency?

I've noticed that on online grow shops they sell 90 degree bends which apparently improve airflow compared to natural bends in the ducting.

I was wondering if there is any truth to this claim or if a natural, gradual bend in the ducting is just as efficient?

Sometimes this has to be done to get the grow room in a certain set up and there is no avoiding any curving. But i would always try my hardest to get any ducting has straight has possible it is rubbish that a 90 degree bend in any pipe work will improve the effiencey of a fan i have worked in the building trade for many many many years and have never known this to be true.Keep has straight has possible, but if you are useing a light mover than this will be the only time that you may need to have a odd curve hear and there....tyke.................

The exhaust of my grow tent is at the top whereas the vent hole to the outside through the window is at a lower level.

The best airflow is achieved by using square rigid ducting and 90 degree bends. We only use the circular flexible aluminum ducting because it's easy to setup, cheap, and versatile.

90 Degree bends are not the best. I worked in HVAC for sometime installing ductwork and we would use 2 45's before we would use a 90. A 90 degree bend restricts airflow drastically. When we did use a 90 on square duct we always installed turning veins inside the 90 to help "scoop" the air around the turn. So IMO a gradual bend is more efficient than a 90 degree bend.

^Correct; I forgot our OD's were 90 degree but inside we had flat walls to help the air travel better. Still, square ducting is better than circular.
