What are some good options and what’s the maximum I could put inside the 8x8x7 room ?

I want a big yield, is it possible to fit 12 plants inside.. since that’s the legal limit for me here in Michigan

Keep in mind you'll need some space to move around them girls. You prolly only really be flowering about 6x6 i think.

The meiju 650 seems to be bad ass and it's 675 shipped. Or you can go cheaper with Mars hydro or something like that

Hang 4 CMH lights. The yeild you get will all depend on genetics, and veg time. You can fill the 8x8 area with 12 plants or 4-6 big ones. It all depends on how big you let them get before you flower. Take the profit from the first run and upgrade to LED's. Use the old CMH's for veg.

Cheapest way to light an 8 x 8 is 4 x 1000ww HPS. Id use the 1000w Hortilux HPS bulb. Its got the highest umol of any single ended HPS on the market, and also has a small amount of Blue.

Ive used this bulb for over 20 years for seedling- flowering. I believe it came out in the 90s, and has been made more environmentally friendly materials wise over the years. Its also the most reliable bulb.

All we do is grow big plants.

Heres what we do to get at least 1lb per plant, under 1000w HPS.

#1 thing is you have to find a strain that grows like hell after you put it into flowering. A 16oz-20oz single plant is going to take up a 4 x 4 area, and will need to be bent over/trained early on to form into a bush, and force more secondary growth. #2 is youve have to find a strain that yeilds like a MoFo, and just for simplicity sake, and to get a great yield right off the bat if one makes it through to harvest with no fuckps the Mr Nice Super Silver Haze is one of the best plants there is structurally, and consistently.

Unless somethi8ngs changed in the last few years with the strain, Id say a good estimate is that 40% of all the females from that strain are at least capable of producing 1lb per light, and in reality, would be disappointed with 1lb per light, but 1lb is our bare minimum we expect per plant, and regardless of how good another strain may be, if it cant reach that bench mark, its discarded.

Another thing to think about is Veg Time. From Seedling - Flip.

For us, if a strain cant grow fast/large enough in 60-70 days of seedling/veg, under 1000w Hortilux, and depending how we do it, either veg in 5 gallons Promix BX, or after the plant has declared itself as a female, or put it into a 20 Gallon container of Promix BX. Many have watering problems putting small plants into large containers, but Ive been doing it so long I can do it asleep.

But if one decides to veg in 5g containers, you can use Grow Bags, and then sit them down into a larger Flowering container, and Cut the bag off of the plant while its in the large container. I never shock them, and I also rough up the roots a little.

Then you have to have really good ventilation, or CO2 control, or your fucked. Gots ta have all the fresh air possible, and you want the temps no higher than 84 degrees at the top of the canopy.
I also like to have a Breeze blowing 24/7 regardless if lights are on, or off. I want to see some leaf movement on every plant in the room. Doesnt have to beat them to death, but I want movement. This makes the stems, and stalks stronger, and as they would more likely to be outside.
After Bending plants, I also like to slightly shake the main stalk of the plant, and also muck with the side branching a bit to stimulate growth.
I also do not muck with the main growing tip, unless I want to discourage faster growth. I bend the plant from around 20% down from the growing tip. Remember the growing tip will be trained to grow Horizontally, and all seecondary growth trained to grow UP towards the light like the growing tip normally would, after a while, you wont have to mess with it anymore. But if you top it, it will have to recover, and will also produce smaller initial growth vs the growing tip, and will extend Veg Time. Im also not saying correctly topping a plant may increace yield over time, but it also increases Veg Time, which costs more money for light, and electricity ect. So IMHO not mucking with the tip, and looking for plants that have medium internode distance, and stretch like a MoFo after flip, is whats up. Yes we may be able to get 2lb+ if we topped, and vegged longer, but would have to veg another month, or more if we clip them.
We have done a best of 28oz from 1 x 1000w Hortilux and 1 plant, and 20 gallons soil, and Mr Nice SSH.

For $800 youre best off buying 2x 1000w Hortilux, and a couple packs of Mr Nice SSH seeds. You can get 3 Plants/flowering under 2x 1000w HID.

1 Directly Under Light #1. 1 in the Middle of the 1st, and 2nd light spaced 4 feet away from Bulb to Bulb, and 1 directly under light #2.

I start seedlings under 1000w Hortilux at 24 inches, and slowly over time bring the lamp down to 20 inches, and in the winter when I can cool it better, may be able to get as close as a foot- 18 inches. SSH can also take a huge amount of light, and not bother it. Some will stretch 4x- 6x their size in flowering. Some will be more NL5 leaning, but still huge buds, but if plant limited, isnt optimal.

OP should consider himself lucky to have gotten such a response , I know I would have !!!!! There is no one shoe fits all in this business ,tons of variables ,you have been given a solid base plan and it's up to your self to put in the time, and think yourself around problems that will arise....and they will lol..... But it's unavoidable just as anything worth doing .Don't spend all your time trying to find the perfect answer as most of it is subjective ,just get into it and learn!!!!!

I will add, a member on here told me recently that a New SE HPS bulb has just come out recently.

It runs on a normal 1000w HPS Ballast, but thee Bulb Filament is Dual Ended HPS Technology, and puts out 2100umol. I believe they say to run it at no closer than 24 inches, and will cover a 5 x 5 area.

Ishio Single Ended 1000w HPS DE Filament. It has the same 2100k temperature as a Hortilux 1000w HPS
