70 watt HPS or 100 watt CMH Flower week 4

Can anyone who has personally grown with cmh and hps give advice

That amount of watts is not going to grow them much at all I’d drop 80$ on mars hydro ts600

Get at least a 400w my hps

With HPS you want 50 watts per square foot of growing area in flower, up to 60 with supplemental CO2. CMH you want at least 35 watts per square foot in flower probably more like 40.

With high quality LED lighting like timber or HLG or gavita you can get the watts per square foot down to 30 - 35. Don't fall for the bullshit LED out there, avoid anything that says or insinuates some number like "1000 watts" but only really pulls 160 watts lol. And avoid anything blurple lol.

And where does one get a 100 watt CMH?

If someone is trying to grow in such a small space LED lighting has so many perks that it can not be ignored.

The 100 watt CMH bulbs are commonly used in a little bit older, (pre-LED) outdoor building wallpack lights.

I would love to someday try these as naked bulb vertical side lights if I ever grow that style.
Similar to what you are doing, but with these little fellows.
Currently growing Scrog. Shooting for a flat canopy and just down lighting.

Ya I agree with pickle rick leds trump over hid in every category but price and footprint

Mars hydro ts-1000 will flower a 3x3 tent no problems it’s 150-200$ I’d get away from hid

@Buddernugs Isn’t the 1000 like 150watts? That’s like fifteen watts a square foot lol.

I think it’s meant to flower a 2x2.

I use one in my 2.5x2.5 tent it’s a lot for that space...I thought the same thing untill I saw Bill Ward on you tube pull 8 oz cured and trimmed off an auto flower grow start to finish with the ts1000 he put one plant in a 2.5x2.5 tent the outer buds where in no way under developed and it was solid all the way down into the canopy

Mind you he’s a master grower who knows his shit which goes a long ways he also doesn’t run co2

I've been using 100w coated CMH 100 watts 4000k..(alto) for veg and then switching to LED for flower...I have 2 Parfactworks lights...They are actually pretty decent lights for price..
