While walking through lowes the other day i spotted an outdoor 70 watt HPS light with a ballast and reflector built-in, i have a small cabinet grow and i am currently only using CFL's and i was wondering if i should buy this, if this is a good deal, if anyone else has any experience with this, or anything really. Im pretty new to growing but i know my stuff pretty good.

so your takin em back?

are they no good?

or would they be good for my setup?
Yes I am taking them back...

Not because they are "no good", but because there are a bunch of small reasons that add up....

For instance, I can put a 600W HPS in an 8" cool tube and have the same temps in my room as I do now with much less light...

I will also get better, denser buds from the same plants...

Right now I am burning over 400 watts in the concoction of lights I have... and I do not have the penetration or the lumens of 400 HPS....

It works... don't get me wrong, look at my pics.... but I think one bigger light in a cool tube is waaay more efficient...

I would look into a bigger light with a cool tube.... even a 250 W ...you will be happier in the end....

All that being said... please keep in mind that I don't know shit... read what I wrote here, but make your own decisions, I do not mean to tell you what to do....

Hope this helps...

Cheers Mates...

they will be good for your setup..i guess hes taking them back because hes getting a 600 watt..
Yup you got it... and not only that, but the 2 x 70W HPS + 1 x 100 MH = the same bucks I paid for the 600 w HPS WITH the cool tube....

Just a thought....

would getting a 250 mh reflecter +ballast+wiring and everything for 200 decent?

then use that for my 3 plants with like 5 cfl's then switch to hps for flowering?

would that work decently for a closet grow of 2x2x6 ft?

lol i got a small space to work with i think 250 is plenty for that space?

You can buy a ballast that runs both MH and HPS (of the same wattage)...

They are more money, but they do run both...

I would also seriously think about a cool tube....

I would check with High Tech Garden Supply... and if you decide to buy from them... call them on the phone... you can save on shipping...

Hope this helps...

getting a mh setup balast set to like 250 or whatever id have the mh light to start

then when i need to flower cant i just get a hps light 250w and take ut theMH and replace it with the HPS in the same system?

if not why? i dont really get that part.... how u cant just switch out a standard bulb, if its the same wattage....

dont really want to buy online.. this is somewhat stealth opp i am not whatsoever using parents cards... id rather buy local...

this is basically what im dealing with.... was looking at near the bottom the MH setup, and just buy another HPS bulb and change them out...
