So I've had these vegging for about 7 weeks now in MG moisture control soil. I've had pretty good luck I would say. I've got most of the plants in 1 gal pots and have topped them in the last week or two. I'm using aprox 20ish CFL's and have good venting. Temp in the closets reaches a max of 75 when the lights are on. The plants do have slight nute burn I believe from over watering but nothing to bad (damn MG soil....naa just kidding I really like the stuff).

Anyhow here are some pics let me know your thoughts.

:peace:

This is living proof you don't need expensive lights that put out too much heat. I'm also interested in LED grows and outcomes.
Keep the high cost of electricity down in the grow room.

I've looked into those... they're like 500 to 1000 for growing marketed LED boards.. for that Kind of money I would better believe they would work

I'll have to say the first grow I was very antsy but now I can wait for the stuff. I'm not sure how long it would take to get bud if I went from seed and did 12/12 but I think I will let the plant veg about a week longer as I'm leaving for a long weekend and don't want the to be stressed right into flower with underwatering.

My total investment is as follows

Cabinet = Free Craigslist
Fixtures = 8 x 8.00usd = 64.00
Socket splitters = 15 x 4.00 = 60.00
Shelving to move lights up and down = 50.00
Forced hot air vents = 3 x 5.00 = 15.00
Fans 2 exhaust 1 intake 1 blowing on plants =45.00
Bulbs 18 x 2.50? =45.00

Total investment not including pots and pain in my ass = 379.00

This was purchased from start of my first grow til now. So inexpensive yes but it is always a "growing" process :) I have been looking into the 200w Hydrofarm CFL kit and was considering buying 2 of those to cover my grow space which is about 3'lX20"wX46"H it is expandable to a height of probably 72"

You think that would be enough for lighting?

They look a bit overwatered to me.

Have you looked at mars hydro led fixtures yet? One ts1000 would probably replace all those bulbs and give you better performance. I understand you may be on a budget. I went down the CFL path in my beginning year as well and learned a few things. But once I stepped it up and got my first hps I never looked back. LEDs are even better and I would recommend them over hps unless you need the heat.
