7 weeks flower and foul smell

7 weeks 400 watt CFL. Organic soil. 5 gal container.

Two weeks ago I noticed a foul smell coming from the soil. Fearing root rot I decided not to water until smell was gone and soil dry to the touch. I only watered once a week anyway with 3 quarts (molasses mix).

Today I drilled drain holes in the bucket and a good 1/2 gallon of foul smelling browish green water poured out. Why I did not put drain holes? My stupidity. First indoor grow. Many outdoor where drainage was never an issue. Buds are decent, but not great. Hoping draining will help growth.

Eight hours later, smell gone and plant seems heathier. May be my imagination though.

Wanted to give it a few more weeks til harvest since we have clear trichs.

Suggestions?

Thanks

yup the problem is not having drainage holes and the nutes sitting on the bottom. they will be fine maybe give it a dose of fresh (non nute) water

Keep it up, dont listen to nay sayers because at one time they were new at it too. Im on my 4'th year growing indoors and I still screw up sometimes. So press on and learn from your mistakes........(which it sounds like you did)

Grow it up ------>smoke it up!

Thanks for the input. Like I said, I'm a outdoor grower just trying something different.

Good news is that the top soil is drying out a bit. Going to give it a few days to dry out some more. As it sits now, I believe a yield of 3/4oz dry is to be expected. Hopefully solving the drainage issues will cause an increase. I suppose it is what it is.

Funny, the foul sh*t smell is slowly being replaced by the sweet smell of flowering even after one day.

I think I'll stick to outdoor growing for many different reasons.

Thanks again.
