6lbs grow with only 4x600hps on 24/7

Alright where to begin,

Well lets start with my goal :
My goal is as followed; I wish to grow 1 single grow per year with a yeild of 5-6 LBS of dry ,cured , and healthy cannabis for my Wife An I .

How am I going to do it with only Four 600 hps?
This is the tricky part. I plan on having no timers for the 12/12 cycle I plan on manually doing it myself.
I wish to build 4x4 tables under each 600 hps for a total of 4 tables estimating on getting an ave yeild of 300 Plus grams per table .. for a grand total of 1200 grams around 2.5 lbs right.

So this is where my decisions need some guidence :
I am gogin to build 2 rooms . One room with 24/light and one 24/dark so I must manually move the light every 12 hrs from room to room or I must move the plants 12 hrs from room to room (this may be a time consuming task) ..
Just to make it clear IM gogin to build 2 8ft x 8ft rooms and have 4 lights do the work of 8..

Any one with any coments on how I could construct such a grow with an easy "swap"
method Please reply :

I dont want to influence you in what Im already thinking just yet but Id like to hear what you might sujjest to make it an easy switch that would take less then 5 mins every 12 hrs to Swapp out the dark and the light ..

why not just get a timer??? it is a hassle having to constantly think what time is it! is it time to change gotta go home etc. etc.

Buy a timer they are not that much(Home supply) like 20 bucks and it will run two items off one timer. I am not sure on why you want to do it manually. The timing really needs to be as close to perfect as you can get and timers will do that for you.
No matter how you go about it best of luck on your grow.

Watch the first SeeMoreBuds video, "15 Pounds in 80 Days". They had three rooms in the video and each was setup for clone to harvest. One room had 100 plants in aeroponic systems and 4 600w hps lights and pulled around 6.5lbs..

My suggestion is if you have 2 separate rooms by one anther, combine them to make a 14x8 room or a little larger. Setup 4 tables on either side of the room, setup a movable partition so lights can move on a rail from one side to the other. Or buy 8 hoods with lights and run a flip flop setup. I assume building a metal rail that rides on wheels would be more cost efficient. Depending on your cash flow, it could all be automatic running on timers. Motorized rail to move the lights and the partition could be engineered to make way for the lights.

Load the tables with 16-32 plants each and grow SOG style. You should be good to go! I know the automation all seem complicated, but a few motors, timers and a some simple engineering... it can be done.

2 reason I wouldnt get a timer..

1 with a timer I can only 4 4 table as there 12 hrs of light and 12 hrs of dark

so with timers IMlosing out on 4 extra tables ..

2. timers leave a spike in you electricty so lets say my lights came one at 6 am and shut down at 6 pm looking at public records of power usage you could notice a signifant spike of around 2500 watts being comsumed at the same times each day . ( not my bigger concern thou but never the less)

There we grow were off in the right directions now thanks for getitng us started :

Im thinkign the same thing using a cable line liek a clothes line and jsut simple pullig the lights over ever 12 hrs and keep the plants stationed but I dont knwo how to build the light bairrier wall that would divide the rooms with a cable running over top and still matain to keep all the light out of the dark room.

Ummm the whole higher power usage is BS, when i put in my hot tub which uses way more than my grow system no one came around to see why my bill went up 40%. I'm just not going for that one, i think it is one of those old pot growers thoughts while stoned. The smell is what you need to worry about and the 12 on 12 off with no interruptions in that cycle.
Hey i have been wrong before, but i can not see where the power companies are watching your bill that close as long as you pay it and how would they know if it was a hot tub or what ever are they going to call the cops or go looking to see why the bill went up?? If you have the time then go for it!

Interesting idea. I understand what your thinking. I could just build another flower room, and then move the light in between to get twice the amount of plants and flower room space. Definitely be some challenges there.......... but could easily be done

Please don't take this question the wrong way, but have you ever grown before?

I mean, yes, in theory you're probably like "I'll definitely be home both times each day when I'll need to manually lug tons of plants back and forth from rooms", but in all honesty, I can't ever see that happening.

You really need to get a timer, and if the power draw is an issue, just have two 6s in each room and run them on alternating 12/12 schedules.

Like you, we all want our grows to be as efficient as possible, but what you're proposing just isn't realistic.

Life happens, and things are going to come up which means you're not always going to be there when you should, which is what the timer's for.

Or, alternately, just buy 4 more 600 watt lights - you'll be using the same amount of power running 8 at 12/12 as you will 4 24/0, and then you're gravy with some timers - this is the definite option I'd go with.

Good luck.

Yea Im gonna have to agree with Bob, sy you happen to pull this moving task off for even 2 weeks, trust me when I say you are gonna be beyond over it. and if you happen to fuck the shedule up, which you will, Your plants will hermie and even if they dont they wont yield worth shit..

But if your still content on this idea, I would recomend you build long 2ft wide beds instead of ur 4x4s, then put wheels on it so u can just push it from room to room, I also like an earlier posters idea of an automated moving partition and lights, this could be achieved with the light rail system..

And trust me the electric company pays no attention, after all its not illegal to use power;-) for all they know your growing some bomb Hydromatos haha YES just invented that work

Good luck to ur Endevers, Ill be watching to see if you pull it off..:bigjoint:

I agree with what your saying Im not worried about runnign high watts IM worried about the cyclen patterns a daily spike for 12 hrs a day same time every day with little to no change .

in some areas power consumption is available to the public.

Smell is no worries to me at all . i have a compleatly sealed room no in and out vents , co2 enritched , dehumifier and ac to control my closed enviroment .

my 2 "grow boxes are gogin to be built with in this main sealed room

Im just lookign for a convient way to manually do this

Get an interchanging timer. Its like four outlets and when one goes on the other goes off.... perfect for what you want to do. Although I suggest running a 24/0 room and 2 12/12 rooms and your power would never fluctuate. But whatever, some people just need to figure it out for themself.

no matter what you say your not going to convince me you don't need a timer. It would be an awful shame for 2+ pounds of good bud to hermie on you because you got stuck somewhere for a night and couldn't take them out of their light cycle.

Your power bill is not gonna be what gets you busted, man.

And running 8 600's on an alternating schedule uses the same power as 4 600's on 24/0.

Sounds like you need to do a little more research, man - at this stage of the game, your "electric footprint" (for lack of a better term for it) is one of your lesser worries.

If you've got money for 4 600's, you've got money for 8 600's and two timers.

Ok let me try to get this back on track here....

IM a person that doesnt complicate things
I say im goging to do somthign i do it .. I have to be home at the times i pick because it meaning full for mee to be there so all the timer talk is not my concern ...... Its only 60days from the day i palce my clones in there.
I must be there to do it! Like thast the whole point its 1 grow 6 lbs .. Its worth it to me to be there ...

my concern is the cost of another 4 6 watt digital ballast I jsut ordered 4 and it was 1600 and with my fans and pots I already spent 3k on items Im done spending

My aprment unit is rune down and will be renovated for the 3 months while i do a grow there i will be there every day.

I jsut lost alot of money on my last flip due to how long the flip sat on the market

So spending more of my savings right now is not somthign I or my wife can afford .

IM dertemin on making this grow a sucess
Im just lookign for better ideas on now to improove my method ..

Like it was said I dont want to be there for 2 hrs a day rotating everythign around IM Id rather sped my time wating and maintaing my garden I need a fast way to swap lights or plants ...

So Again thanks for comming by adn can you give any ideas on how you would run such a set up thanks

Sorry man, I gave you all I got - I'll tell you right now, your strategy isn't gonna work out.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think that I am.

Trust me, the 1500 for four more lights is well worth the investment, considering the amount of weed that could be lost.

Good luck to you.

I have to agree. Moving plants is impractical, but moving lights around like you're proposing is even more impractical.

You've got lots of space right? Just use 2 rooms on alternating 12/12 schedules and one with 24/0 (even though personally I think plants need to rest and wouldn't go higher than 20/4 except for rooting clones).

Get some timers. Period. No one is going to be monitoring your electricity unless you're stealing it. And if you use 2 rooms on alternating 12/12 there is no spike! I like the comment about the hot tub above.
