600w vs dimmed 1000w bar light

Hey! I did a little thinking and someone here probably have the answer. Would a 1000w led bar light dimmed down to 600w work as good or better than a 100% power 600w led bar light? The 1000w would probably have more diodes and bars than the 600w aswell. Obviously the footprint would be more even with more bars and diodes but will the dimmed 1000w be just as bright and have the same penetration as the fully powered 600w?

Leds are usually more efficient when you lower power levels.
When I see 1000w and 600w used in led fixture descriptions, it's a red-flag for me.
Find out the actual power the fixture consumes. That will be a better metric to judge the lamps.

1000 watt and 600 watt strips are the normal these days and they do run that wattage.

Generally, a driver is less efficient when dimmed, but efficiency at chip level is increased. So id prefer a 600w on full rather than a 1000w dimmed if all other things was the same. I believe most 1000w fixtures have 2 drivers though (600 w abd 320w) so im not 100% of how it works out; if you can run it using just the 600w driver.

At chip level, going down to half power usually means an efficiency boost of about 10%: half your power and you should see approximately 55-60% of the light output.

For these strip fixtures: they flower really well but mainly what is directly underneath. A strips ficture that covers a 4x4 (in size) dont really need any more than 480w.

Im talking about high quality fixtures like the 1000w growcraft dimmed down too 600w or the 1000w lumatek zeus thats soon getting released :) if its the same or better as a regular 600w i might aswell buy the 1000w version :)

What about if we use lumatek zeus as an example, the 600w has 3700 diodes and the 1000w like 6000 something.

Hard to say i dont know the fixture, dimensions and distance between bars. 1000w seems like a lot of wattage, unless the light is like 5x5' big. Imo opinion, not much point in having more wattage than needed for the area just under the light if your going for really high efficiency.
Personally id go the diy route.
