600w vers 1000w

Would it be more beneficial to put a 600 W light over each plant or a 1000 W
Over to 2 plants for bigger yields, i'm thinking a 1000 w could be overkill

I had 4 under my 600, stunted back to veg took quite a while but once comfy they took off. Vegged too long, topped like mad hatter (first grow).

I have removed three to allow my biggest (front right in pic) plant free range of tent (2nd pic). The others are in a shed and well, will suffer but still produce.

Thanks for your reply , yeah I used 1000w in my last grow and I averaged about 1950 to 2000 grams(wet) per plant which is ok , shit strain which I think is the most important , I vegged them for 2 weeks and flowered for 45 days , with the right strain I would like to aim for 4000 grams (wet) which I think is more than doable

. Thank you for your reply , You said overkill ? , wouldn't there be more lumen from a 1000w more light , using a cool tube , couldn't a 1000w damage the plant

2 weeks of veg is short but workable, but 45 days in flower is your problem. u got low weight because u pulled the plants about halfway through their flowering cycle!!

Oh ok your saying flower them for 90 days which is 11 weeks , even if the trichome are milky and amber after 45 days

45 days seems early for most of the plants i grow
i get the odd one here and there that is fully ready at 6 weeks

i like the racy high from weed picked early at 6-7 weeks but i find this speedy high seems to diminish quickly from the tolerance build up
also the buds are not dense enough at 6-7 weeks the smoke and flavour is not so satisfying not enough expansion
9 weeks tends to be what i flower most indica/sativa hybrids for
this is in hydro and maybe a little quicker than soil

your sig is messed up bro. lol

I do 10 to 11 plants under 2 x 600w with big kahuna hoods. I wont post my yield, but its above average. I veg for 8 weeks, and flower from 8-9 weeks until I get 10/10/80 trichs (amber/clear/cloudy). sometimes a few days longer to get a few more amber to show up.

Let me suggest a different path

HPS is a point source light

As such it generates a lot of heat (lumen loss) , and...

2 ft away intensity (umols/m^/sec) falls off considerably,

and then there's the heat

I went in the direction hot5 (432w) to better distribute the light across the entire 2 x 4 canopy

but tech moves on

Recently, I replaced it with a BML SPYDR 600 which consists of 6 @ 3ft bars that can spread to 3 x 3 and cover 4 x 4 uniformly

http://www.bmlhorticulture.com/multi-bar-fixtures/

and the best part, I was able to select my own spectrum blend

Come by my thread to see it in action. I think you'll agree, leds have come of age

the halfway may have been a bit of an exaggeration (many sativas do take that long) but i am only trying to help u. If my plants looked immature and as if they could put on more weight (as i feel yours may) then let them go until most of the trichromes r amber (80%) unless u are very opposed to possible couchlock buds or are worried about mold or something. MOST new growers harvest too early NOT too late, just my 2 cents.

^^Nothing will give u better buds/weight than a HPS for flower (again just my opinion, man)

im usin 1x 600w and 2 x 250w on 16 plants and they are ok,,,seems i dont even need to add the second 600w for the next 2weeks cus all plants are covered properly and already have better results then my previous ones with 2x600 at the same stage they were))) ur thaughts??DSC06543.jpg
