600W HPS Heat signature!.. please help

I recently purchased a 600W HPS light with air cooled tube and i already have an AC in the room.
I live near a goddamn military base. Do i need to worry about the heat signature from a 600w? I mean we all hear about housing thermal scanning and how they bust yo ass. And if its too much, is it possible to cover up the heat?

Your good. one 600 watter isnt really anything that would draw attention even if scanned.

Not only do they need a warrant, but the military and/or local police are not going to take interest in your 600w grow, it will be fine.

im curious, at what point does it go from not being enough to draw attention to being a target? would 2 600s or 1ks draw attention? or 4?

Not really sure how others are making that assessment either...

If your honestly worried about it and fear something happening that might compromise your safety or freedom then invest in the thermal blocking film and line your grow walls with it. Personally I would rather drop the money for the peace of mind if I were growing illegally. Money vs freedom which is more important to you?

don't worry about it. grab a window A/C. i've got 2 hps' running and it heats my apartment so i don't have to use the heater at all for my place. saves money as well. it would help to start cultivating edible plants just to help if you'r that worried. people will just think you like to grow other things as well.

Surely IF you have all the right equipment, you should be in control of the Temps & Humidity...not being funny...not sure even what Kit you do have..but My end Goal is that the Temp of my Grow Room 8' x 7' x 8' doesn't change(least not if I can help it) between lights On/Off and pretty much stays at the Temp I set my main controller (smscom being the 1 I'm thinking of going with) already got a small Thermostat Controller, but going to use this on maybe the Cool Tube or Hood...also I'm going to scrub and exhaust the warm clean air around my hallway and will be monitoring Temps in and out of the Grow Room and try and maintain a constant level throughout.

Ohh, meant to say..wouldn't worry too much..600w in average rm won't or shouldn't raise Temps too much...

They only look for unusual hot air being exhausted from the house. They cant bust you for having a hot house. Just dont exhaust hot air outside the house.

I would grow in tents within the room, with the A/C running the heat signature won't show thru walls.

If. Someone is looking at your home with night vision warmth will only show if you get the exterior wall temp to go up.

They can't see people thru wall like in movies.

if you grow in a room and heat up the whole room then the adjacent exterior
walls will get warm and glow in IR equip.
just like if you pump all your hot air into your attic raising the temp it will make your roof glow.

when I say glow, a simple understanding of IR makes sense.

okay but we're the fucking middle east, palestine. so there's alot of thing to be worried about here. I was thinking of using just CFL's like a 1000w or smthn since i have a generator already.
but if only 1 600w hps is safe that is all i need! i mean how would you compare it to an oven or boiler?

so lets say I'm willing to put the effor to install a cooling tubing system around the entire room inside of the walls, plus the AC running and hooked up to cool tube of a 600w
would that actually cover up the heat signature like you're saying?

Don't stress it so much..don't matter where you are, check what the Guys are saying...

1st things 1st get some Thermometers or LCD/Digital Temp/Humidity Monitors...run with out lights ON for day and night...see what Temps you have inside the Room and outside...do this for 1-2 days and Rec Data every 2-3hrs..Now you have a Gauge/Rec/Idea of what Temp Ranges you have to work with.

As long as you K.I.S.S. you will be Ok..use a Carbon Filter/ Fan setup...

CFLs are Great but still generate a little Heat, Esp if you use Lots...600w Hps will give you enough Lumens and very controllable Heat levels..IF its colder at Night then try setting up on timers so you system/Lights Etc..run maybe 1am>7pm(or whenever the Temp Drops)

Plenty of Help on RIU..pretty sure you will be able to run the 600w Hps with no problems.

Just some thoughts :

I think its going to depend on how is the temperature outside , how big is your house , etc. I live in europe and we dont have your problem but i saw video where police describe how they drive around scanning houses and look for like places where hot comes out where it shouldnt come.

600w is not much imo. But think if you had like attic with kws and the attic would have like a hole where very hot air comes out and the heat scanner would pick it up and the attic would clearly look as being hotter than the house , and you would live in a neighborhood known to have lot growers. And so on and so on.

If you have to heat your house , maybe you could use fans to spread it around the rooms and turn off the heating.

This is turning into a pretty uninformative post but my opinion is that if you think the scanning is a serious threat. Then you have to spread the heat evenly and make sure it is not going out from some single hole. I dont think the scanner really sees through walls so your cooling tube thing might work. But you gotta do some research on that , i think the main idea of my post is spreading the heat around the place.

Also its pretty dam hard imo to cool a room electrically. Lets say i have 3kws and i would like it to be cool without venting it out , then id propably have to spend lot of watts to get it happening.

An easy rule to follow is you can run 1000 watts per bedroom of a house with no chance really of being a red flag so a 3 bedroom house can run 3000 watts with no real flags to be raised as a home computer and a plasma tv can run close to to 1000 watts alone. Then you figure electric driers or stoves or baseboard heat run in those ranges so it does not seem strange just pay bills on time and your good.
