Okay, so i messed around with a 400w HID and got no where. so i ordered a 600w hps and started to get my room ready for some real vegetation.

I lined the entire room with 7mil plastic except for the doorway which surprised me by how much of a vacuum it still created.

Those little guys were planted on the 19th of November which makes them 3 weeks old today. i've keeping a constant temp of 76deg and 45% humidity pretty stedily.

Its underneath a stairway so im planning on using this for early veg and build a light barrier.

Mylar up so i dont have to do it when the HPS is up.

So far i have just been using one shop light with two 40w fluorescent bulbs.

Anyone can feel free to post and comment, ill try to keep this updated as possible. ill put finished pics when i get the hps and air vent installed.

:peace:

dank,

you may consider put the plastic on the floor too. Then staple them (with little cardboard squares between staple and plastic for extra strength) up the walls a couple inches. This serves two purposes. 1. spills, 2. the carpet may hold humidity (mold) and smell.

looks good. i use a 600watt too and it rocks for a room that size.

I'm going to duct a 6' outlet that will draw air with a 125cfm inline from the top of the room and hopefully pull enough air from underneath the doorway. along with an osculating fan. like I'm using now, and leaving the door open for fresh air when i'm around.

My main grow dimensions are 5x5x5. I'm going to use the low end of the closet to start clones and hopefully get a nice cycle going.

oh and the 400w HID i used had a shitty partially fried ballast so i couldn't use it.

How many plants can i expect to grow in that area?

for how much longer should i be running 24/7 on the plants?

thanks everyone for the comments

ok. my opinion is this: grow nine plants to 2.5 feet tall then flower. if they grow bushy you are set, if not try topping and pruning to shape it so that your plants really fill the 25 square feet. and i'd switch to 18/6 after a couple weeks from germ.

I just happen to have bought 9 5gal buckets the other day to use as pots lol. i've always planned on topping and pruning to allow for the 5ft high sealing. Now to get the plants 2.5 feet i just run my lights 18/6 until the desired height than go to 12/12 to start the flowering? right?

also, what kind of harvest should i expect from growing dwarfed plants? Btw i forgot to add im just using dank bag seeds. but have plane wreck seeds waitin for my 2nd grow :bigjoint:

Thanks

I noticed today that the ends of my largest plant are starting to turn yellowish. What can cause this? i water about every other day when the soil surface is hard to the touch. i also mist with seltzer water once a day.

What could cause this?

stick your finger way down into the soil. is it moist 3 inches down? if so wait on the water. I would water every 4 or 5 days. You'll see the plant droop a bit when she needs water. A day without water wont kill her. remember they need air too. are giving nutes?

I'm out of town till Sunday so ill see how she looks when i get back. no nutes as of now, but I've just been using a osculating fan in the sealed closet. ill leave the closet door open for a hour or two everyday to let fresh air in.

Alright, got home tonight and stuck my finger down in the soil and it found that it was dry roughly 3 inches down, but that's after not watering sense wed.

my soil is: Miracle-Gro potting mix Feeds plants up to three months

I dont know whats going on... anyone?!

Here's another one that started to yellow at about the same time the larger one did.

thanks

are you using tap water? maybe the ph is off. pick up a couple gallons of distilled water from the supermarket and use that for watering for a bit and see if the new growth is green.

been using distilled water sense day one

Do you think all the Nutes in the soil are poisoning the young plants? only other thing i can think of is the seltzer water? has anyone had problems with it before?

A little update: got the 600w HPS hooked up without the hood (on the way) and got the air vent put in the closet. Right now im just using a 250cfm can fan.

The HPS lowered the Humidity ALOT and raised the temp to about 95 degrees! i try to leave the door open as much as i can, but its imposible to sleep with all that light. im going to have to figure something out to get the temps down. I have a fan blowing straight onto the bulb to try to cool it.

Heres the pics as of now! tell me what you all think
