600w growbox

hypothetically speaking.....if i were considering building a growbox (3'x3'x6'), and i was using a 600w aircooled glass enclosed reflector w/ 6in inline fan for the light, what should i be looking for as far as venting the rest of the box. I know i would need an intake fan at the bottom, and an exhaust fan at the top, but does anyone know what cfm ratings i should look into...... that is of course if i were considering building one.:hump:

also this would hypothetically be for 4 female soil grown chronic seeds...and id be using a hps gro-lux light throughtout the whole cycle.....this would be my first time experimenting, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hypothetically..........it can be done...but dont expect it to be so stealth those fans need to be going to pull all that hot air.......hypothetically but hypothetically you could go with 2 250w hps lights ..split the cab in 2 and put 2 plants on the bottom and 2 plants on the top and scrog them....you will get such a nicer yeild that way........hypothetically

if you wanted to make your box 1 chamber.then i would go 600....if you wanted to make a betteer use of your space you should split the cab into 2 chambers and do 250w scrog style grows in each......you will have a much bigger harvest that way....

so would you suggest a 400w hps over the 600w for that size box???:joint:
400 w for that size is more than needed for that size. And your temps wont be as high. I have 4 lollypoped cheese (fem) fron greenhouse in the 5 th week in a 3x3x7 with full time fan rubbermaid DWC and they thrive with that 400W. Temps run around 82%. Rez i keep adding ice pacts every 2 days & I can keep it stable around 72%.

that sounds about right. im new to this growing thing, but i have been doing alot of research b4 i get started. ive read up on hydro, vs soil and i think for my first time ill rather go soil to get a feel for it.. ive also read up on sog growing which i think will be too overwhelming for me to have so many plants to start out with. i think 4 females about 3-3.5 ft each should be good enough being that its all for me.:joint:yeeeeaaaaaa babyyyyyyyyy. but anyway, ive heard of scrog, but im not exactly sure how its done, or what the pro's are of using that method. im just trying to keep it as simple as possible 4 now.

600 watt is far too much for that space. Especially if it was to be enclosed in a closet or something similar without proper outdoor ventilation.

400 watts would be your better bet. You could supplement that with some T5s or even high powered CFLs if you're thinking you're going to need/want more power.

Although, I could be wrong, after all your situation is your situation and therefore, unique.

I have a 400w MH running a box of similar size getting some vegetable plants for summer time a major head start (I'm hoping for some 10' tomato vines by the end of summer and some GIANT sunflowers) and it gets really hot a lot of the time.

Do whatever though, just make sure you get a good fan.

I use a 600 MH-conversion and a 400 HPS for veg, both air cooled in a 1.7 x 4 x 7 foot box. I use a 440 6" cfm inline to air cool both lights. They are both connected on the same ducting which takes air from outside and vents it back outside.

At the top of my cab, I have a 265 cfm blower with carbon filter on it pulling air out of my box.

At the bottom of my box, I have an oscillating fan and 2 passive intakes.

My box does not sit in a closet though, it sits in an open area that is air conditioned.

Well found this info thought I would post it if anyone was interested

WATTS APROX. COVERAGE
150/175 2'x2'
250 3'x3'
400 4'x4'
600 6.5'x6.5'
1000 8x8

NOTE:Coverage area may be reduced if this is your primary light source

Got this info out of National Garden Wholesale catalog. I dont know what fan you would need though.

well, i have a box in a closet. with a 400w and a 250 w, i made DIy cool tubes for both venting to the attic, with a 6 in duckt fan on the cool tubes, as well a 6 in bathroom vent fan 70 cfm, i think .. mayb more ... which is venting in the attic as well .. also i have a 6 in intake fan on the bottim, and a fan inside the box, and my temps avg 84. light on .. 76 off . would no suggest both.. took me bou 5 months to do all this to get ot here .. heat = shitty yield .. but once I FIG. it out , the yeild for my 8 sq ft box as redic ..so , you choose

thanx for all that feedback......looking forward to this grow.im waiting on a 250cfm inline fan to cool my light. do u think ill be able to use this fan to vent all the heat out of my growbox, or should i have a seperate intake, exhaust system for the box. im also looking into getting a small oscillating (<--or someshyt like that) fan to move the air around a bit. Also does anyone know of a easy way to supply co2 to the plants....i heard of something about using baking soda and vinegar or something like that.again thanx for all the responses, my lungs will greatly thank all of you.:joint::hump:

Check out my grow it is simular 4X4X5.. I use a can fan R6 with a 33 carbon filter. I think a 600 watt is perfect for a 3X3 box I loose lght in the sides because my box is 4X4. As far as CO2 I stopped using my tank because I was having problems with my temps amd smell.:peace:
