600w+400w= Hot roof?

Hey guys been a while since I've posted anything but I've run into a possible problem..

So I vent my 600 flower closet into the attic and I haven't worried about heating up my roof. Now I want to add another flower tent with a 400w.

I plan to put a Y splitter into the ceiling, tents side by side, both blowing up into the ceiling.

Will the heat from both tents being blown into one part of the attic make my roof noticeably enough (to FLIR) to worry about? :dunce:

No problem with that. If it gets cold there you may want to consider using that heat to help heat your house.

I'd say you need at least 2,000W to make a noticeable thermal imprint by venting into your attic. I have read though someone vented into their attic with around 1,200W and they were the only street on the block without snow on their roof. :-)

Thanks for the reply potpimp.

BTW I live in a 3 bedroom house, around 1200 square feet.

EDIT: It doesn't snow where I live but thanks for the info Machnac

To help yourself out....you should have at least 1 "vent" on the side of the attic...reachable by the roof...usually its about 1.5ft square with a wooden vent over it with angled panels and a screen, I suggest covering the screen or wooden pieces with a bunch of dryer sheets (lint sheets, dryer shields, w/e u call em) and running an exhaust pipe to about 2 feet before the vent from the inside of the attic...this lets the air sit in the attic a little...providing a little more warmth (but not too much) and also provides a slow outflow through the (filtered) vent...lets you get more heat/air outside with less worry.

You can also just buy a cheap-ass air filter from walmart...staple/tape a coupla dryer sheets to one side and mount it just on the inside/outside of the roof vent.

If you have no roof vent...I suggest you cut a 1-foot by 1-foot hole in the wall of the attic, leading outside, and install a vent and filtration system similar to what I just mentioned....
