My Sun System Harvest master Pro 600 watt HPS is fukt! It will fire up and run for an hour or two then turn off. If I unplug it and wait for half an hour and plug it back in it will run for a random period of time then shut off again. It is not overheating as far as I can tell and it is a cool 65 to 70 degrees in the room. This just started happening a few says ago and It seems to be getting progressively worse with time. So what do you think it is? Coil, capacitor, igniter, bulb? Every thing is about 1.5 months old including the sun tube and socket. I am trying to diagnose this so I don't have to ship this shit from OR to NC and back. This is why I buy coil lights. You can fix them! I just need to figure out which part I need. Try to repair a digi on your own. + rep for the right answer.

If you have the money, I would opt to buy a temporary ballast and send that one back in for repair. You may very well void your warranty if you try to repair it yourself.

I really cant afford another light right now. I don't care about the warranty. There are only like 5 parts in the whole thing. I just need to figure out which part is bad. I need the light up and running pronto.

I would tend to think it was the balast logic would say if the light ignights, the ignighter is OKi, the bulb lights and is OK so the Balast is the only other part it could be overheating. Unless yours came with a daylight sensor (with that wattage I doubt it :)

Sounds like you need someone to have a look at it pay in cash give a false name.Always make sure that you realy treat the growing equipment with a little tlc.Make sure that it is kept of the floor if possible this will reduce dust getting in the vents.I also have a small fan that i have to do one job keep the ballast cool.If you have not changed the bulb for some time this may be the problem.I change mine one a year in the veg room and once evry year and harf in the flowering room.I would strongly oppose looking at this your self far better to get a perfesional to do the job for you after all it could be a matter of life and death.

I don't have to give a false name or anything like that I am totally legal. I just need to know which component exhibits these symptoms. If you have ever looked inside of a ballast then you would see how simple the wiring is. I just need to figure out which component is bad. That's it. I know I can take it to the shop but there has to be someone out there who knows what the deal is. I have fixed lights like this before or I wouldn't even fuck around. But I knew what was wrong last time. It was the cap and I knew why it blew. My retarded room mate stuck a MH bulb in it!!! Again it is all new bulbs and all.
