You already have the light? What are your plans to cool it? Can you make the tent bigger?

Way overkill...

You wanna shoot for 50 - 70 watts per square foot.

in a 2x2 /w a 600 you are at 163

Make your space 3x3 that = 72.

2x2.5 is still 130 watts per square foot.

Above 70 is where you start getting diminishing returns. Meaning your plants will suffer from heat stress and the air will be too humid / hot.

You need a 250 watter for that size even a 400 is pushing it.

600 / 4 = 163?
What? Did I miss something?

There is nothing wrong with using Mass amounts of light, so long as you can handle the heat. With a 600 in 2x2, you are probably way past the point of diminishing returns, and thereby wasting a fair amount of energy.

WOw U guys are the shit , Thanks my peeps to tell u the truth on this project I rather go with clf or 150watt but need some cheap lights so anybody in LA with bargains on small grow lights or really want to start this but with 2x2x5.5 or 2x 3 im out of luck for that 600w its a challenge for the heat

I got those figures from a Grow Room Calculator.

And it says this:

Note while hid lamps may use say 600 watts, the total electricity used including the ballast depending on make is between 645 and 660 watts, we have used the average actual use in real life for the calculations.

Interesting...
So, I take it thats why a digital ballast is claimed to save electricity? ie. actually using 600w?

Anway, I believe the 50w/sq ft rule is based on the rated watts: 3x2.5=400w, 3x4=600w... but, maybe I'm wrong.
