6 plants under 1000 watt? should i add more plants?

mostly all indica strains i have 2 1000 wat hps lights i was planning on having 6 plants under each light for a total of 12 plants but i have read posts on here about people puttin 12-16 plants under only one light and still yeilding a pound? if i only have 6 will i yield more than a pound? any help will be greately appreciated its my first time growing under 1000 watt hps so far i have been using 400 watt lights

For full sized plants 200w of light per plant yields the best results. 5-6 sounds about the ideal range for a 1000w. I wouldn't add more unless your growing very tiny plants (i.e. .5-1.5 finishing hight). If you have 2 1000w lights then 10-12 plants should be fine.
