I want to pull air through 2 sealed reflectors, both are 6" xxxl's . One is 600mh the other is 1000hps. Do I need a 6" fan or duct down a 8"?

Depends on the air temp that is coming into your duct work. If that air is, say, 50F, you will not need as much airflow to keep the hoods cool.

Might be best to buy the 8" and a speed controller maybe?

6" was fine for me with 6kw; your fan will determine the amount of airflow, and duct size is generally equivalent to the size of your cooltube.

I would say air temp on intake is about 72°. I'm thinking the 6" will be fine. The 1000w is in a a/c controlled room.

I use a 6" to draw hot air out of 2 1000 watt hoods. Works fine but with fans, it's ALWAYS bigger is better.

Hell, if your intake air temp is 72F you could run at-least 3 1000watt inline cooltubes.

Yup, 6" is plenty. I am running two 6" cooltubes with 600 watt bulbs on a 4" 170CFM inline blower.
