5x5 LED - T-Time grow time

There's almost no noise, and hydro will produce much more consistent results than soil. You can even go organic hydro, like I do.

I've started my first LED grow here: https://www.rollitup.org/t/strip-leds-in-the-garden-of-paradise.954799/

I had a grow thread on here from a few years back detailing my old 1200w HPS vertical set-up that used to produce 3.5-4lb from a 4x4 space: https://www.rollitup.org/t/haze-harvest-a-few-pounds-of-1200w-vertical-weed.668796/

I'm using the same coco run-to-waste system, but this time in a 4'x2' horizontal LED set-up, as I'm limited on space. So far I've been impressed with the LEDs.

In fact, I seriously underestimated how much they would grow when I flipped them to 12/12. I had six plants I started off slowly on a weak, hand-watered nutrient solution that were flipped at three weeks, but I also had two more plants that were started a week later and fed a little stronger that were flipped at two weeks. That's the seedling in the photo above, and it's also the plant on the far right-hand-side of the other photos (there's another one behind it that was also flipped at two weeks).

Once all those plants went into the auto-feeding system, they went mental.

The way I figure it mate, you've spent so much time and effort building your system already, all you'd need to do is fill those pots with coco, run an automatic drip feeder, collect the waste in the channels below, and your results would be right up there. No more guessing how much nutrient is in your soilless pots and how much more (and what) to feed them.

But again, if you want to do something different, there's nothing wrong with your present set-up. It's all about what you want to achieve. I'm just happy to help if you want to go down a different path :)
Oh maan... :bigjoint:You definitely got me interested after reading first page of Your Paradise thread !
5min of noise in 12h of light on ? I can handle that :D
I have to go back to work now but I'll have some questions to You later on :)

So... after reading the Paradise thread Prawn Connery posted page earlier, I went and bought myself a table to raise my tent :) I couldn't see the picture of the system clearly in my head but after seeing Your setup and how easy it would be to convert my setup I think I'll give it a go. Especially knowing the advantages of such a system. I was kinda hasitant as I though it would be more complicated and noisier then what I have but it seams it would be even simplier and more quiet then what I had in mind. I dont have much to waste in converting to RunToWaste system after all

I highly recommend anyone to have a look at that thread. Loads of usefull info there !

Thank You Sir!

Watch this space....:hump:

From thought to action, I'm such an impulse shopper
Got all what I need for conversion. Only need to cut table legs now ( in the background) andfinal lenghts for the 4mm hose once the pots are in place.

You are sooo going to love coco run-to-waste! Your system is made for it. You already have the drainage channels, reservoir and plumbing. All you need to do is figure out where to drain to and ensure you have enough pump head height to reach that upper level, as well as a regulator valve to ensure you can pump as much nutrient solution up there as to the lower levels for even flow to all pots.

You will work it out - you are a very resourceful person by the looks of things!

Wow! Some old-skool strains there. I haven't grown Chronic, but I've grown a bit of Sweet Tooth #3 and a few crosses (with Sensi Star) and they've all been knock-out stones.

It's always hard culling plants if you end up with too many. I had to cull a couple during this grow, but I've kept clones and will run them against my best plants next grow, just to see if they are anything special. Sometimes your smallest-yield plant has the best high.

I've grown Northern Light and Chronic before with HPS so I know more-less what to expect. Sweet Tooth is in my jar for last two weeks and I've tried it before many times so decide to give it a go and throw it in dirt this time.
Most likely if all seads will germinate , I'll plant 8 NL and 1 of each Chronic and Sweet Tooth just for the fun.
They were in my fridge for long enough ;)

And this is how I germinate my seeds.
I soake them in them in RO water (with added mineralisation) for about 12h. Then I put them in between two wet cotton pads and hang them in a plastic bag. Excess of water will be drained by gravity and by gravity baby root will start growing straight down, making it easier to plant in the pot.

I've learned this from Serious Seeds web and it works good for me :) https://www.seriousseeds.com/minisite/minisite_seeds03.html

Chop day! :weed:

Before the slaughter. Top row faded color and wilt after roots boiling. Can't wait to try them both :hump:

No time for better pre harvest unfortunately.

Nothing to brag about. Buds were very compact.

Did shit loads of cleaning today and tmrw I'm starting to implement some improvements to the system for the next round.

Stay tunned :bigjoint:

Curious to hear your thought on your boiled vs non boiled smoke.

Ready to see how ya hook things up for your next round.

Will be after new year when I can say something about the difference between the two and the yield.

Did shit load of work today even if it doesn't look like that.
I had to take everything out the tent, drain the lights and take them out, clean everything and rise the tent. Not an easy task when you have noone to help!
Table I've bought was 75cm on width and tent is 80cm so I've took out the piping and cut 3cm off. I know it doesn't add up but it works ;)
Then rise the tent by 50cm on my own, put it on the table and screw it down so it wouldn't slide down on me when I'm working around the plants.
Took apart the white rack that I've build for rising the upper rails and cut it narrower so it would be same width as the water rails. 20171220_200321.jpg
20171220_202207.jpg

Bought a valve that will adjust the flow to upper level manifold and ziptied whole thing in place. No more worring if on of the levels will get more water the another. Will try to do some testing tmrw to see how its gonna work. Ohh and a new pump
Not sure its going to be enough tho. It has only 1m head pressure and I need 1m head presure. Pretty tight but if there will be slow flow I can adjust with longer feed times :)

Started soaking new seeds yesterday for next round :weed:
10x Northern Light from Royal Queen
2x Chronic from Serious Seeds
1x Sweet Tooth from Barneys Farm

Only 10 will be planted to bigger pots.

I have grown northern lights from royal queen seeds a long time ago, it's a great strain i think you will be pleased. Happy growing.

That pump might struggle a bit. Head height (gravity) is the killer. Ideally you want enough pump to push your nutrients but also provide some bypass back into the reservoir and have some left over as a safety margin. I've got a similar sized pump and it really only just does the job pumping to about 60cm height.

One thing you have to watch out for is that with low pump pressures, your feeder lines may be more susceptible to nutrient clogging. Higher pressure can help clear the lines. Nutrient clogging will depend on temperature/evaporation, type of nutrient (organic nutrients being more likely to build up) and run times/pump pressure. It's not something to worry about too much, as it takes time to build up, but it is a consideration.

Also, if there are any impurities in the nutrient solution, the pump impeller can bind up, reducing its effectiveness. I have a dog, and sometimes dog hairs find their way into the nutrient tank and get tangled in the impeller, which slows it down. I pull my impeller out after each grow to ensure it is clean.

Finally, as the pump gets older, it's performance might wane a little, so all these things add up, which is why it's better to have a buffer.

If it's not too late to swap that pump for another, I'd be inclined to go the next size up. It's always better to have a slightly stronger pump than you need.

Or you can try the pump you have to see if it works OK for you. You never know until you try, I guess.

Thats what I thought as well. I'll test it today and if It wont push out 100ml/min each line I'll order bigger one. I was planning to use separate pump in the res anyway to oxygenate water with sprinkler for 12h when the lights are on so it wouldn't affect the flow of the main pump.

Ordered new pump. Just a one model above which is 1000L/h adjustable.

New babies poped out today :)
Hard to see from the pic but they're all out. All 13 of them. Let it be a lucky number ;)
I sprinkled some mycos around and will hopefully sink in with next watering.

Thats my idea how to maximize space in veg tent. Its only 60x60cm but it will hold now around 16 small pots for a about 1-2 weeks (I hope). When dealing with limited space you have to be creative thinking.

I really can not rate that myko product. In-fact I was so unimpressed with it half a bag got thrown out and replaced with a product comparable to recharge. The current product is way, way cheaper, gives far more benefits and visibly works. If the myko bio are dead or conditions not optimal for them you get jack shit for your money.. aside form a sludgy mess and ph change. If the myko product used was in good condition (stored well on my side) then it's safe for me to say it showed no improvement over 2 cycles. I followed the scholar research findings of P-myc relationship in order to give them the best chance. I still follow that now, with the other product.

Just my opinion.
