5kw 4 plant vertical solar panel grow

The plan is to do a 4 plant vertical grow in a 10x10 sealed room while supplementing the power with a 5-10kw of solar panels .

Will be setup like this:

XOX
OXO
XOX

I have ordered all of this so far:

5x SolisTek MATRIX Double Ended (SE/DE) 1000W Digital Ballast, 120/240V
5x Solis Tek High Pressure Sodium 1000w Lamp
SolisTek Touch Remote Control for STK1001LCD
5x HydroBuilder 15' Vertical Lamp Cord with Mogul Base Socket
3x HydroBuilder 1/8" Heavy Duty Light Hangers (2 Per Pack)
2x HydroBuilder 1/4" Super Heavy Duty Light Hangers (2 Per Pack)
4x Hurricane 16" Oscillating Wall Mount Fan
12x Smart Pot 5 Gallon w/ Handle, 12"x 9.5"
6x Smart Pot 15 Gallon w/ Handle, 18"x 13.5"

On the to-do/get list:

5-10kw of solar panels

Electrical upgrade 200 amps

Ideal Air Mini Split Heat Pump 36,000 BTU 15 Seer

Inline fan & Carbon filter

Titan Controls Ares 2: Two Burner CO2 Generator, LP

Titan Controls Atlas 2: Preset CO2 Monitor/Controller

Titan Controls Eos 1 - Humidify/Dehumidify Controller

Ideal Air Dehumidifier: 30-70 pint?

Humidifier ?

I am unsure what size humidifier and dehumidifier what be appropriate for this size of a room, hoping to get some in insight on this.

I will be growing in smart pots with fox farms oceans forest soil and fox farm liquid nutrients.

I currently have 6 3ft plants in 5 gal smart pots that have been vegging for two months I plan to transplant into 15 gal smart pots when I put them into to flowering. This first run I will flower all 6 in the room but next run I would like to sick to the 4 plants 5 lights setup.

I just transplanted 12 1ft clones into 1 gal smart pots that are vegging in my second room under 2kw MH lights.

Hoping to get some advice on this plan and see if I'm missing anything, also wondering if anyone out there is running solar panels and how much I will need to offset at least 60% of the 7kw total of lights I will be running.

It's a lot of solar panels. 7kw x 12 hours = 84 kwh *.60% = 50.4 kwh. Numbers for efficiency vary by location, but at the 15% efficiency (typical of current panels) you would need 67.2 square meters of solar panels to cover 60% of the electricity. That does not include the loss from the power inverter or any battery charge/discharge loss.

67.2 square meter = 723 square feet.

If you want to realistically use solar, get a glass roof and an awning that can black it out and be set on a timer.

Have you even tried to locate a 10kw panel? I am sure your making a mistake in what your saying as usually panels are 150 to 250 watts and are few hundred each so your looking at hundred grand in panels if your just buying 5 panels that are each able to produce 10kw each as thats what 500,000 watts

That is a great idea for a glass roof however not sure if that would be work with the medical marijuana laws in my county, this is what it states:

"" (c) No outdoor cultivation or growing of medical marijuana shall be permitted within the unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County. Any cultivation not inconsistent with California State law, or this Code, as such laws may be amended from time to time, shall at all times occur indoors, in a secure, locked, and fully enclosed structure that includes solid walls, and a ceiling, roof or top.""

When it says solid walls, I think it might pertain to the ceiling, roof or top as well.

I do know I'll be looking at at least 700 sq ft for 10kw solar system but I'm fine with that as I have 5 acres of land and would go the ground mount route if I could not put that much on my roof.

So far it's looking like it would cost 20k for a 10kw system but still need to do a lot more research on this first.

Yes I know I'd have to get anywhere from 40-50 panels running at 150-250 watts to equal to around 10kw.

A plastic/glass roof would fit that code. It's solid and it's a ceiling/roof/top. In some locations you would need privacy glass to be legal...
