500w CFL?

a grower determined can get those temps good.. ive seen a fellow grower grow in a 2x3x5 closet using a 400 watt hps no exhaust fans just reg fans you got laying around the house..1 blowing on the bulb one blowing on the plants door open for air circulation..he grew some killer plants to with no co2

my cfl have a fan on it that why they stay nice and cool. but i dont see why i couldnt do the same with an hps . what would be enough hps light to do 19"w 60"L 50"t? 2 250 or 3 150???

Those look like 65 to 105 watt CFLS, I imagine that the 500 is the equivalant.

You put CFLs as close as possible without burning the plants. Get the bulb close, and put your hand in between the bulb and the plant, about 2 to 4 inches apart, to see if it burns your hand. Pretend you hand is the plant. If it does not burn your hand, it won't burn your plant.

my cfl bulbs are about 1 inch from the plants. as long as they don't ever touch, it is ok that way, but it doesn't take long to burn the leaves. the other day, 2 leaves bumped a bulb for about 3 seconds. burned to a crisp, seriously.

well i have to grow closets to play with so maybe ill turn the second one into a hps flowering room. do all hps take a different ballaster then normal sockets or do they make low watt hps also? could i screw a hps bulb into my socket that i have for my flourex bulbs????

no no that would be a bad idea lol. all hps lighs have to have their own ballast. i think the smallest that they make is 75w but not sure. if you got two closets why not make one for veg and one for flower? thats basaically what ive done just splitting my closet in half...

pretty sure it's a bigger socket and a different ballast. you can go to home depot or lowes and pick up the whole thing "security light" take the globe off it, mount and wire it, and it's ready to use. that's what I'm considering trying.

i have one for flowering with cfl and floro12-12. and the other has just floro in it and is set to veg time. but also have one more that i dont have any lights in make that one into a hps flowering room o ya!!

yes good idea hps flowering room would be good a 150 or 250 hps could come with the ballast enclosed in the reflector or with ballast seperate. get the seperate ballast one

i had a 250w hps hydrofarm light in a metal ballaster thing weighd a ton was way to hard to move around to!!!.... damn parents took it
