500 Watt Closet. STOKED!

still not looking good yet...so i know for sure that it was underwatering....so they were overwatered which is weird i was only watering them a few cups each....and waiting til is way pretty much dry...so I guess i'll have to see what changes when its dry again...then what if the droopyness doesn't get better? Plants are phototropic, meaning they grow towards light. When your light is not directly above, the plant leaves can droop or even mutant to position themselves to better receive the light. The issue I would say is your light is not close enough, and not directly overhead.

With the light where it is the plant will NEVER angle it's leaves directly up. Consider that. Watering may be an issue too, i asked about the temps mostly because i see red'ing everywhere on your stems, which is usually a sign of cold stress or some nutrient issues.

ya i know there is probably nutrient stress because i still have not gotten water run off yet....so i'm positive there are nutrients in the medium and from watering that have not gone all the way through my soil....so i'm feeding them water for the time being...and im almost dry again from the last watering and this is what they look like! SHIT! What do i do?? The bottom of the pot is still pretty dang moist, and the top til about 2 inches in is still a little moist...

What do you do? I would transplant the plants into a better soil mix, with improved aeration. Your soil mix should be like a minimum 25% perlite and I'd say a max 33%.
That's give you good aeration and allow the water to run all the way thru....
I've got about 1/2" of perlite lining the bottom of my grow bags as well so wick up any moisture left over, and it's seems to be working well, as I need to water every 3 days right about now.

Water every 3/4 or 5 days until you find which on works best for you....I was on 5 for a while....then 4 for a couple weeks, now I water every three days or my plants droop from thirst.
When you water, water till you get a little runoff. No runoff is bad as you very well might have dry pockets in soil soil...The roots will dance around those. :joint:

And tie the top of your plants down, so they'll bush out. Good luck champ :joint:

keep it real.

can you get your lights about 6 inches from the tops? you should also get the lights flat with a reflector. cfls are great lights but you cannot cut corners with them you MUST utilize the light they put out and not waste any. get your lights very close and flat and your plants will thank you!

If your lower half isn't drying, then you probably are having root rot issues or other issues in your root zone. I would seriously suggest transplanting it if you think this is occuring.

On my first test grow, I dealt with not enough light and root rot late on. A picture of her is posted below. Feel free to laugh at the set up - I do now as well. There was more than the one light, but obviously not enough. I knew I had root rot because I could smell it. Or at least it rot from hte nutes going old (tried to use MG in recommended dose- feel free to laugh again) I flushed with some hydrogen peroxide a few times and that took care of that. I was bottom watering primarily. So.... I got about 4g off of the plant when all was said and done and she looked just like yours. Not worth the hassle for the bud but I learned a ton.

Because I know my tendency to overdo things, I tried to maker everything as brainless as possible. Especially watering. I bought the Tropf Blumat system for watering and am happy as hell with it. It doesn't let things dry out as much as would be optimal, but it keeps my plants happy. For about $80 all said and done (with a bucket for gravity watering), all I need to do is add a gallon or two to the bucket and check it every day or so. Every other time I add water, I use the Fox Farms nutes as recommended on their feeding chart. I can water up to about 8 plants with this set up, take off for a few days, etc with no problems. I am very surprised I don't see more people using the Tropf.

So adding more light - a lot more light, getting nutes under control (now using no nute soil/peat moss/vermiculite/perlite blend), and using the Tropf for watering has me growing this (in last week of veg I think):

Do you see the difference? I'm a newbie too but listen about the light. If I were you, I'd read the sticky about how to chop her and replant her or I'd clone her and start over with a better set up. By the way, the plant that is thriving in the second pic is a clone from the first plant.

shiiiiiiit. i might try to stick it out before i go through transplanting them...i know its a good mix a buddy of mine who is certainly a "master" gave me the plants in the mix already because they were extras. So something is happening, i think next water i'm just gonna give them enough water to run through the bottom. Right now i'm almost bone dry....almost looks like they are perking up...i'll do a water just with a little bit of cal-mag. Both of my lights are about 4-6 inches close to my plants.

the soil may be a good mix dude, but if the bottom is clotting and the top has no moisture retention it's not mixed right. I'm not saying the soil isn't good, but you need to design the soil build for drainage and little water retention. if the lower area is staying went when the surface is bone dry, and you water when it's bone dry, then the root zone is never drying out, and it's bad for your plants.

I keep mine about 2-3" from plant but I am using lots of 23w. I raise evry couple days as needed and have not had any burn issues. Can you add a reflector? I really think you are getting yourself hung up on water when light is your main issue. Mother nature isn't consistent with water but in the summer, she's pretty steady with light!

I"m watering every 4/5 days, about 6 cups of water on each of them...pots do feel like but in the bottom on the pot it is still extremely moist....my light is 4-6 inches away from each plant...i'm pretty positive that i'm getting root rot from the bottom of the pot not being able to air out fully. I think that might be my whole problem....some pics from today...the leaves are turning a brown color on the edges...SHITTTTT what would you guys suggest I transplant to? I might just go get some roots organic soil and transplant to that, and not try to do this coco-soil mixture....Soo how do i transplant these guys??? How much of the soil do i need to get off the roots?View attachment 2484472View attachment 2484473View attachment 2484474

Gotta make a move asap...Or it's funeral arrangements :joint:
Shittt so I took your idea into consideration, and after another couple days the bottom area of my medium is still not dry and plants starting to do even worse....So i went and bought some Roots Organic Soilless Coco Mix....I think i'm going to trim some of the bottom branches off a little bit and bury her a little ways up the stem. I also have a couple new additions! Got a new afghani #1, and another Indica dominant plant that is an unknown strain. :blsmoke: i'll put up some photos later.

Alright....soooo...

Sorry I didn't get back to you ASAP bro but IDK much about soilless mediums.
BUT I do know tht you shouldn't bury them stem past the cotyledons or where they were, because then your risk stem root at the base...And there's no coming back from a plant that falls over haha!
BUT you need perlite in soil to wick up extra water bro...

Never run into root rot tho so I can't advice how to treat it other than drying out the root mass anyways you can.

Sorry bro and good luck! Only thing I'd say is move into some dry soil

rad thanks man, well i'm in dry roots organic coco mix. i'm just waiting til they look underwatered i guess...then i'll start the process of bringing them back...the afghani and the other indica are lookin sweet tho!

That's waht I'd say bra..give it atleast 3/4 days...if your plants not dry then you know you have a prob. A good root system with sap that wter up QUICK! More leaves = more roots. More roots = bigger plant. Bigger plant....more ganj lol! Good luc tho bro. You got it

Night and day right here, this is why I use the same 500W...only spread out among 14 bulbs at various heights.

so i transplanted awhile ago havn't posted in a bit just because they were incredibly messed up, but they are bouncing back 3 weeks later! After I started making sure my PH was good, and I was regularly feeding. I also am 3-4 weeks into a couple new strains that are looking very nice and indica, some afghani and another unknown seed. I also have started using AN sensi grow two part, along with hygrozime. IMG_3416.jpgIMG_3417.jpgIMG_3418.jpgIMG_3419.jpgIMG_3420.jpgIMG_3421.jpgIMG_3422.jpg
