So this is my first diy thread! I know other dwc buckets have been done but I like mine!
1st I went to target and bought a 20 gal sterilite storage bin the one with the locking handles. $9.48
2nd I filled it with water to see if it could handle the pressure, after a few hours the lid was still on but the sides were bulging a bit.
3rd I drained the water and wrapped the bucket a few times with duct tape so the side would stay in place.

4th I turned the net pots upside down and traced them on the top of the bucket
5th I looked at about how big the lip on the net pot was and ran a razor blade around the inside of the circle. I wasn't trying to cut all the way thru just about half way. Then mad a cut all the way thru the plastic from between my razor lines. after cutting across the circle where I had made the razor line just peeled off instead of trying to cut it the whole way. kinda like perforated paper it tore where i wanted it to!
6th I took a jet lighter and heated up a piece of coat hanger to make snug holes for the air lines to go thru!
7th I connected the air stones to the air lines and pump and put the net pots in! I didn't use any glue any where! the net pots fit very snug! I can turn the lid over and shake it and they stay in!

I got the air lines, air pump, air stones and net pots at my local hydro shop for $40 and they gave me enough hydroton pellets to fill my 4 baskets! my air pump has 4 ports on it so I have 4 small air stones one for each plant. I have the air stones hanging in the water under the net pots instead of on the bottom, but have plenty of line to move them when the roots grow. The tub with the locking lid does have holes in it for the locking handles. I did no have to seal them! the 5in net pots hang down low enough! I can fill it with water so that half of the net pot is under water and the water is still a safe distance from the handle holes. This is my first dwc grow will try to keep some kind of up dates!
