Hi i was wondering if 50/50 perlite vermiculite was a good soilless mix starting seeds? if so how often should i need to water? is overwatering an issue?

I'd be surprised if you over water this since it tends to drain quickly and wont hold as much water as soil, or coco for example. if you can rig up a drip system that might be the way to go. Fill your containers and pick them up, now water them and pick them up again. You should be able to tell the difference in weight pretty easily. You'll want to water when they feel light. This sound ridiculous but it works for me. You'll probably have to water every day or every other most likely, possibly more once you have roots in there

Op there are easier mediums to start seeds in but perlite makes a great medium to grow in.I dont think you want 50/50 though,id go around 25-30% vermiculite personally.Use a rapid rooter or rockwool or something to actually put the seed in for the perlite,it makes a nice home for the seed while the roots are growing.Vermiculite has some CEC properties,so as little as you can get away with the better. Its only good for its water holding capabilities.

Perlite/vermiculite hempy style.
