Hey everyone I currently run DWC and an 8 site Stirponics RDWC System. I am looking to build and underwater current with waterfall. I’m using 2” PVC and haven’t decided what size pipe for the waterfalls. I am going to try to use 6 - 17 gallon totes with 2 plant sites per tote (see pic). I was thinking about using 1/2” piping and installing 2 waterfalls per tote, I have a 27 gallon tote for my res on the outside of the tent. Any ideas or suggestions?IMG_0313.jpeg

I used to have a 4 tote design similar to yours. Biggest issue was getting to the back sites for any maintenance. Also 2 plants per tote can possibly create root issues if you ever have a problem with 1 plant and it needs to be pulled.

I use 2" sch 40 pvc for return, and they can get root clogged. 3" would be better, or in my case I have two return pipes. Also I used 3/4 feed pipe reduced to 1/2" to create the waterfall. Works well with a lot of aeration.

There are many ideas out there on the waterfall scene.

On my undercurrent setups I use 4 , 1/4 irrigation tubes to spray in each of my totes.

Using a valve or 3 with the drain pump , dual purposing it for suppling these sprays.

Then a good undercurrent pump pulling my flow through and back to my tote splitting into two falls back into my reservoir.

This is more than enough disruption to run the show , but I have added another pump in my reservoir using its venturi for a few more Bubbles.

I would assume to get added oxygen enrichment to the water along with the airstones.

But what I have found is that no airstone are really needed. Using extras parts I added to my rdwc ( pump for discharge).

Did flood-drain for a better part of a century and it definitely has a place for turning and burning a sea of green.

Now much smaller numbers with a canopy of green.

That’s what’s so great about this style of gardening because everyone can make it their own personal style. I have been growing in Stirponics, aeroponics and plain Jane DWC for a couple years now. All of them grow awesome plants, but some require more time and TLC than others do
