Here are a few pics of my main. The basement had a kitchen put in after the house was built and then the kitchen was taken out again, this was before i bought the house. The subpanel (I think) was added for the kitchen. This is where i got my 40Amp circuit from. The main switch is 2 small connected switches and both say 100 does that mean 200 between the 2 or are they just one switch. I do have a lot of lighting at my house, not recessed though, a hot tub, large AC unit for the house a jetted tub, and many outlets, i really think i must have more but maybe not. i never trip breakers either

Now im thinking that this is 200A service, just like a 240V circuit takes up two 120V spots on the breaker panel, this takes up two 100A spots in the main????? Im pretty stoned so probably wrong....

No that looks like a 100 amps.... Your best bet would be to install a sub-panel where that 40amper is... Your panel looks to be full, unfortunately....

Shitty, So on a side note, does that mean that if between all my circuits if I ever drew over 100 amps that my main would trip?
So i think i will install a sub panel where my range outlet is then. I will wait a few weeks to do this if my current setup is still acceptable.

You can check to make sure that all those circuits are being used aroumd the house, is the panel labeled? Its not that bad, because once you get that sub-panel in there... It should be enough power for up to 4k lighting, an AC circuit, a circuit for a heater, maybe a circuit for a dehumidifier, and things like fans and air pumps can share in a 110 circuit with no problems...

Yeah the panel is labeled and I do know of at least one circuit in the subpanel that is not being used. But once i put in the 40A subpanel it should be more than suffiecient, and I still have another 120V circuit I can use too.
