400w stealth grow Room Design.

Hello there all. Ok i have this design in mind for a tiny ass almost complete stealth 400w grow measuring 27.5" high, 35" wide and 2' deep. Its this cuby in a barn that i live in that is just prime. Its far away from the main hall where people walk through on the ocasian and in the bottom shelf of a giant cabinet that no one ever uses, it has fertilizer and paint and shit from like the 80s. im going to stealth it out with some cardboard box faces in the front and have just under the next shelf up. you would have to see it, i feel, for you all to feel the stealth magic, it will be in a journal, trust me. But for now could you lend a helping hand with this construction.

Any constructive criticism will be taken and very appreciated. I just want to make sure its feasible before i throgh all this time into a box thats just going to be a fat stanky oven of failure.

Ventilation-

2Themaltake silent cats 120mm fans rated at 54 cfm and 16dba - intake

4 more silent cats for exaust (placed on the top back edge of the box

1 S&P 500 cfm fan at about half speed (i went for the high cfm fan so i can reduce the speed and have more managable sound) Also this will be hooked up to my lumatek 400w light with a cooltube.

What do you think? CAN it be done? More fans? I was thinking of sticking a home box type fan inside the cab to keep it all circulating nicely, too..?

I think you should be fine, the only way to really tell is to set it up and test it. have the box running with the lights on without any plants in there and see what temps you get.
since you have the higher CFM fan, you can always speed it up, or adjust and switch fans around.

Trud dat, i can adjust the speed. but i have also to worry about keeping it very very quite. So someone back my man orecal up here, it is feasable right?

PS. Hows your skunk going?

haven't started it yet, still waiting on the bagseed to finish up, I had too many to get them all in there at once. I just took a couple pics the other day, just havn't gotten them up yet. i got about 4 more weeks until they will all be out of there, then I have to completely clean out the room, top to bottom (the bagseed is all hermie). want to make sure I get all the pollen floating around out of there before I get the good genetics in there.

Yeah man kindof sucks, but theyl be up in time! Why does anyone ever worry about pollen, i hear it is only good for like s 3-4 days, then its not active or whatever term you want to use. but cool. That will be cool to see in the 400w club.

yeah, I have no idea how long pollen is good for, I just want to be safe. I'm not taking any chances with the good genetics.

I'm acually gunna move my other 400W into the flower side also, so that I got both HID lights in the flower side. I've got some aquarium lights that work great that I can keep my clone and original seedlings happy with. I'm looking to get as much as possible out of the little room.

thanks for the info..... maybe I wont bother, cause thats gunna be alot of fucking work. Although i do have to put some mylar up and put the other light in there and seal any light leaks..... yeah fuck it, I think I'll not worry bout the pollen.

when you say barn is it really a barn? like outside?

humidity, heat, bugs

those will be your 3 main problems.

i'm growing in an unfinished basement of a brand new house... new houses like this have lots of bugs in them from when they are framing it. spiders, crickets and gnats.. i'm dealing with it, not a huge problem.

just keep that in mind. mostly the humidity cause that can cause major mold problems.

good ventilation is KEY!!!

but yeah its feasable. do it and find out. only way to learn how to grow anyways. reading helps but trial and error teaches you instantly. only gotta screw up once to learn.

i have that exact set up right now. its going great. i have 6 plants and already toped them. im sure i will have to move a couple:( i do have a grat schematic i drew but i cannot figure out how to download it to this sight...

Yeah man true true. Ive had problems with corn bores in this area. ( They cut little vagina slits on the stem, more like vagina caves now that i think of it, not pretty) spider mites too. But yeah ik ventilation is key, thats why im asking, im reall paranoid, about perfection with my set up you know? It will be like the ultimate experiment.

Im not worried about the buggs yet, hopefully i wont regret it, but i need to make sure this tiny ass space could take a 400w. I mean like would any one know the number of cfm that allows plants to touch a 400w in a cool tube?

And oh with the air pumping through this bitch to cool it, i doubt there will be any mold.

Yeah man a barn. a pole barn, on the bottom flore. Anywhere above that is a fucking fire hazard. Basments are perfect! They stay cool, making cost of ventilation and noise of ventilation low. I would love to work in a basment, but in this barn hose i swear you could hear a pin drop on the second floore from the basement. Thats a big NEGATIVE. But is that house yours or just some slow construction site?

Edit - Wow i need to learn how to spell!

yo upin. i have a 6" cool tube over my 400w hps and just a 6" ducting fan from home depot. not sure on cfm but i know it isn't too high since it was only $37. then i have a 4" 120vac fan from radio shack blowing right below the cool tube. that fan moves alot of air aroudn in there.. but i bet i could get my buds 2-3" from the tube. they say to test if your plants can handle it, put the back of your hand where your plants would be and hold it there for 30 secs + if it hurts or gets hot ... its too hot.

cool tubes are amazing though. like i said my box is 16x36x36 and i have the cool tube running, a 4" intake fan, a 4" air mover (internal) and then my big carbon filter that has a 10" fan in it sucking air out. my temp is 80* right under the tube and 72* by the roots.

lemme know if you got anymore questions.

Nice! This helps. Cause ive had one of those radioshack fans, the big 40 dollar ones right? 120mm i think? like 4 by 4inches? Yeah those things are pretty bad ass but i wouldnt think they could do such wonders on 400 watts, plus a shity (no offense) Duct fan with probably what 120cfm max? They dont make em to high. This gives me hopes, high hopes. 2-3? Ill have those fuckers growin into my cool tube with 500cfms. I think i mighgt be alright.

Any pics? im a pic whore, love em. Plus rep++

Oh ok i got it now. Well pretty nice set up, but not 'exactly' the same. I mean almost exact length and width, but you have like what, 6 feet of hight on me? But thanks for sharing anyways. How many cfm is that blower?

its a eco plus 6" blower with160cfm. it cost me$45.00
Oh ok, nice, pretty damn good deal to. i just spent 130 bucks on my S&P 500cfm blower. Im hoping i can get this thing so plants can grow up a foot, half foot away, and be able to touch it if they touch it with growth while im away. Basically.. im not fucking around. 500fm cauked abd loaded, your going down heaT!
Ive asked so many people, but i alsways just have to make sure, i dont want to fuck anything up... Can you touch your cool tube? Also is the air pulling air or pushing through the cool tube, cause in your pic it looked like it was pushing... Cause ill have to lower it some, maby even quite a bit for noise concerns, i want it tto be quiet from like 15 feet away,,, posible??

i can touch it. when i read the direcions it said try to run your duct as long as you can to generate a nicer flow of air. it seams to work. its hard to take a pic because the light is too brilliant...
