400w QuEsTiOn?

Hello,
I have a 400w HID light. I was wondering if I should dial down the wattage (the ballast has diferent settings 100% or 50%. I was wondering what turning it down to 50% power would do? I am growing 6 plants. Do they need to be set to full on power when they are in vegetative stage?

After 2week and you have progessed beyond seedling stage 100% of 400w will ideal. Mh preferably for veg. Dial it down or get some 6500k florescent lights for seedlings, will save you some power and bulb life if you are going to make this a real hobby.

Generally, more light = faster grow. If you're not in a rush and the plants respond well... less light is okay. I personally like to use a lot of light. I like to be able to come back 4 hrs. later and see good growth!
