400w MH/HPS Closet Grow

Hello all. This is my first grow journal and also my first indoor grow ever!

I'm starting off with a bedroom closet, with the actual growing area being 5.5 feet tall by 3.5 feet wide with the ballast and exhaust fan mounted right above the grow area. Covered in poly sheeting and using two Zipwall's for my door.

For my light i have a 400 watt mh/hps and my fan is 101 cfm inline fan ordered from http://www.hvacquick.com ( I found this site from another rollitup member and I am pretty impressed with their fans ) The fan is currently being used for intake but I am planning on mounting it on the wall as an exhaust fan and venting it into the attic.
The 4 foot flourescent tubes seen in the video were used for early stages of germinating and i may use it for some side lighting. We'll see.


After ordering 5 feminized white widow seeds from nirvana shop and receiving 10 free, i decided to take a shot with 5 of the free ones.

Here is a pic when i first set it up before all the poly and ducting.

This video was taken yesterday and the seedlings are about a week old.

Ducting is going through the zipper on the door for now until i mount it and cut a hole for it to come in.





It is still a work in progress and any input/constructive critisism is appreciated. It's 1:30 am here in hawaii and i have work in a few hours so im out of here for now. Will keep you all that care updated.

Hey islandGrower your Setup looks sweet mate, White widow is one of my fav grades i never get bored of smoking that shit. Im currently on my first ever grow, Im veggin 3 plants under a 300W CFL Bulb. Thay are coming along very nice, Are you thinking of using any Veg nutes later on?

And Yes, I usually stick to organic and use fish emulsion 5-1-1 with my outdoor babies but im doing this indoor IN my room and idk about my room smelling of liquid fish. lol

Prolly gonna hit up the hydro store and get some good shit.

thanks mate. And yeah with the MH on the temps get a little warm and dries the soil out.. im trying to see weather or not i should put the ducting on the bottom of the grow area or venting by the light..

the exhaust fan is better up high in the grow room as heat rises, and intake air coming in from low down..
